Association of enterotoxigenic Bacteroides fragilis with childhood diarrhoea.

open access: yesThe Indian journal of medical research, 1997
This study was conducted in a hospital setting to determine whether enterotoxigenic strains of Bacteroides fragilis (ETBF) were associated with childhood diarrhoea. ETBF was isolated from 6 (2.6%) of 226 patients and 3 (1.7%) of 172 controls and was found mostly in children between 1-5 yr of age.

Gut microbiota and colorectal cancer: mechanistic insights, diagnostic advances, and microbiome-based therapeutic strategies

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
Colorectal cancer (CRC) is closely linked to gut microbiota dysbiosis. We synthesize evidence that carcinogenic microbes promote CRC through chronic inflammation, bacterial genotoxins, and metabolic imbalance, highlighting key pathways involving ...

Human colitis-associated colorectal carcinoma progression is accompanied by dysbiosis with enriched pathobionts

open access: yesGut Microbes
Dysbiosis and pathobionts contribute to inflammation and the risk of colitis-associated carcinoma (CAC) in animal models, but their roles in humans with this uncommon disease are unknown.

Akkermansia muciniphila identified as key strain to alleviate gut barrier injury through Wnt signaling pathway

open access: yeseLife
As the largest mucosal surface, the gut has built a physical, chemical, microbial, and immune barrier to protect the body against pathogen invasion. The disturbance of gut microbiota aggravates pathogenic bacteria invasion and gut barrier injury.

[Enterotoxigenic Bacteroides fragilis as a factor in diarrhea].

open access: yesMikrobiyoloji bulteni, 2003
The etiology of almost half of the diarrheal diseases has not been cleared yet, in spite of modern diagnostic methods. Bacteroides fragilis strains which secrete an enterotoxin are termed as enterotoxigenic B.fragilis (ETBF). These strains are associated with diarrheal diseases in children above 1 year of age and in adults. B.

Rapid detection of enterotoxigenic Bacteroides fragilis in diarrhoeal faecal samples.

open access: yesThe Indian journal of medical research, 2007
Enterotoxigenic Bacteroides fragilis (ETBF) is an important aetiological agent of acute diarrhoeal illness in humans. It is a fastidious anaerobe and takes 3-5 days when grown in culture, and test for enterotoxin detection requires additional time conventionally.
