Mass‐Produced and High‐Performance Nanowell Biosensor Fabricated via Semiconductor Manufacturing for Rapid and Accurate COVID‐19 Diagnosis in the Clinical Field

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A semiconductor‐fabricated nanowell biosensor enables rapid, scalable, and highly reproducible detection of SARS‐CoV‐2 antigens from nasal swabs within ∼10 minutes. Clinical validation in 249 retrospective and 243 prospective patient samples demonstrates high sensitivity and specificity, minimal cross‐reactivity, and robust batch‐to‐batch ...

Rational Design of Broad‐Spectrum Anti‐Enteroviral Molecular Glues Targeting Enteroviral RNAi Suppressors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By leveraging this homodimerization mechanism, molecular glues were rationally designed to induce dysfunctional 3A dimerization, thereby restoring antiviral RNAi. The optimal molecular glue, VTP‐32, demonstrated potent and pan‐enterovirus (groups A, B, D) antiviral effects.

Sporadic detection of vaccine-derived poliovirus type 2 using next-generation sequencing in Canadian wastewater in August of 2022

open access: yesScientific Reports
In July 2022, an unvaccinated young adult living in Rockland County, New York became paralyzed due to a vaccine-derived poliovirus type 2 (VDPV2) infection that was internationally transmitted. Wastewater surveillance in New York State uncovered VDPV2 in

Coxsackievirus A21, Enterovirus 68, and Acute Respiratory Tract Infection, China

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2012
During August 2006–April 2010, in Beijing, China, 2 rare human enterovirus serotypes, coxsackievirus A21 and enterovirus 68, were detected most frequently in human enterovirus–positive adults with acute respiratory tract infections.

Atypical Clinical Course of Griscelli Syndrome Type 2 With Primarily Neurologic Presentation and Adult‐Onset in a 46‐Year‐Old Male

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Griscelli Syndrome Type 2 (GS2) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder caused by pathogenic mutations in the RAB27A gene. Typically, it is characterized by cutaneous hypopigmentation, immunodeficiency, with or without neurological abnormalities secondary to hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH). Without treatment, GS2 often results in fatal

Global Prevalence of Non-Polio Enteroviruses Pre- and Post COVID-19 Pandemic

open access: yesMicroorganisms
Non-polio enteroviruses continue to cause numerous epidemics world-wide that range from mild to severe disease, including acute flaccid paralysis, meningitis, severe respiratory infections and encephalitis.

Targeted Anti‐IL‐1 Immunomodulatory Therapy in Pediatric Onset PPP1R13L‐Related Arrhythmogenic Cardiomyopathy

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Autosomal recessive loss‐of‐function variants in PPP1R13L cause an ultra‐rare cardiocutaneous syndrome characterized by rapidly progressive arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy (ACM). PPP1R13L encodes iASPP, which has two potentially overlapping mechanisms driving ACM as both a regulator of NFκB‐mediated inflammation and a binding partner within the ...

Enterovirus and enterovirus infections.

open access: yesAnnals of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore, 1988
An account of the nature of enterovirus and enterovirus infections with special reference to experiences encountered in Singapore is presented. The most common of enterovirus epidemic diseases since 1970 is Acute Haemorrhagic Conjunctivitis caused by Coxsackievirus A24 variant and Enterovirus type 70. Enterovirus of various serotypes were isolated from
