Movement and Survival of Spodoptera litura (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) Neonate Larvae on Cotton Expressing Bacillus thuringiensis Proteins

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, EarlyView.
Spodoptera litura neonates showed increased movement on Bt‐expressing Bollgard 3 (BG) cotton leaf discs but did not initially avoid it. Survival was higher when larvae could move from BG3 to non‐Bt leaf discs. On whole plants, more larvae dispersed from hatching on BG3 cotton compared to non‐Bt cotton. These findings suggest the larval movement differs

Controle associado de Alphitobius diaperinuse efeito de microrganismos eficazes no desenvolvimento de Beauveria bassiana Associated control of Alphitobius diaperinus and effect of effective microorganisms in the development of Beauveria bassiana

In search of ecological determinants of fungal infections: A semi‐field experiment with folivorous moths

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2022
Natural enemies shape the fate of species at both ecological and evolutionary time scales. While the effects of predators, parasitoids, and viruses on insects are well documented, much less is known about the ecological and evolutionary role of ...

Vectors and Vector‐Borne Diseases: Biology, Epidemiology and Integrated Control Strategies

open access: yesJournal of Applied Entomology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Vector‐Borne Diseases (VBDs), transmitted by arthropods such as mosquitoes, ticks, fleas and sandflies, represent a significant threat to global health. These diseases can be caused by a variety of pathogens, including bacteria, viruses, protozoa, and helminths.

Neutrosophic Analysis in the Evaluation of the Use of Beauveria Bassiana against the Potato Grub [PDF]

open access: yesNeutrosophic Sets and Systems
Beauveria bassiana is an entomopathogenic fungus that has been shown to have the potential to control the potato white grub (Premnotrypes vorax), a pest that significantly affects potato production, especially in Ecuador. Therefore, the present study has

The Fungus Beauveria bassiana Alters Amounts of Sterols, Fatty Acids, and Hydroxycinnamic Acids in Potato Solanum tuberosum

open access: yesPlants, 2023
The entomopathogenic endophytic fungus Beauveria bassiana can colonize plants resulting in growth promotion and protection against phytopathogenic microorganisms. However, physiological changes in potato plants (Solanum tuberosum) during this interaction

Effect of Endophytic Fungi on Thrips tabaci Development and Population Dynamics

open access: yesJournal of Applied Entomology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Endophytic fungi are promising biocontrol agents because they colonise healthy plant tissues asymptomatically while inducing systemic resistance that negatively affects herbivorous insects. We investigated whether treatments with the endophytes Trichoderma harzianum and Beauveria bassiana in two onion cultivars (Allium cepa L.; Sturon and Red ...
