Numerical study of three-dimensional natural convection and entropy generation in a cubical cavity with partially active vertical walls

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering, 2017
Natural convection and entropy generation due to the heat transfer and fluid friction irreversibilities in a three-dimensional cubical cavity with partially heated and cooled vertical walls has been investigated numerically using the finite volume method.

A Lower Estimate for Entropy Numbers

open access: yesJournal of Approximation Theory, 2001
The \(k\)-th entropy number \(e_k(T)\) of a bounded and linear operator \(T:X \to Y\) between quasi-Banach spaces \(X\) and \(Y\) is defined as the infimum of the \(\delta\)'s such that the image by \(T\) of the unit ball of \(X\) can be covered by \(2^{k-1}\) balls of radius \(\delta\) in \(Y\). For the case when \(T\) is the identity operator between

Cell density–dependent nuclear‐cytoplasmic shuttling of SETDB1 integrates with Hippo signaling to regulate YAP1‐mediated transcription

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
At low cell density, SETDB1 and YAP1 accumulate in the nucleus. As cell density increases, the Hippo pathway is gradually activated, and SETDB1 is associated with increased YAP1 phosphorylation. At high cell density, phosphorylated YAP1 is sequestered in the cytoplasm, while SETDB1 becomes polyubiquitinated and degraded by the ubiquitin–proteasome ...

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Investigating the cell of origin and novel molecular targets in Merkel cell carcinoma: a historic misnomer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell

Graph-Theoretic Limits of Distributed Computation: Entropy, Eigenvalues, and Chromatic Numbers

open access: yesEntropy
We address the problem of the distributed computation of arbitrary functions of two correlated sources, X1 and X2, residing in two distributed source nodes, respectively.

Entropy numbers, s-numbers, and eigenvalue problems

open access: yesJournal of Functional Analysis, 1981
AbstractWe establish inequalities between entropy numbers and approximation numbers for operators acting between Banach spaces. Furthermore we derive inequalities between eigenvalues and entropy numbers for operators acting on a Banach space. The results are compared with the classical inequalities of Bernstein and Jackson.

Integrated genomic and proteomic profiling reveals insights into chemoradiation resistance in cervical cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A comprehensive genomic and proteomic analysis of cervical cancer revealed STK11 and STX3 as a potential biomarkers of chemoradiation resistance. Our study demonstrated EGFR as a therapeutic target, paving the way for precision strategies to overcome treatment failure and the DNA repair pathway as a critical mechanism of resistance.

Chaining, Interpolation, and Convexity

open access: yes, 2016
We show that classical chaining bounds on the suprema of random processes in terms of entropy numbers can be systematically improved when the underlying set is convex: the entropy numbers need not be computed for the entire set, but only for certain ...
