Public participation and environmental impact assessment: Purposes, implications, and lessons for public policy making

open access: yes, 2010
In recent years the need to enhance public participation in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), and the efficacy of alternative mechanisms in achieving this goal, have been central themes in the EIA literature. The benefits of public participation are

Nationwide distribution of perfluoroalkyl ether carboxylic acids in Chinese diets: An emerging concern

open access: yesEnvironment International
With the phase-out of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and its replacement by perfluoroalkyl ether carboxylic acids (PFECAs), there is a potential for increased exposure to various new PFECAs among the general population in China.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

RNA-Seq Analysis of Mouse Hepatocytes AML12 Exposed to Neodymium Nitrate

open access: yesToxics
Objective: Neodymium nitrate (Nd(NO3)3) is widely used globally, raising concerns about its occupational and environmental safety. It enters the human body via the digestive system, accumulates in organs, and causes toxicity, including potential ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Chemical carcinogenicity of neodymium nitrate in AML12 hepatocytes: Dose-response metabolomics and sensitive biomarker identification

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety
This study aims to investigate the chemical carcinogenic toxicity of neodymium nitrate (Nd(NO3)3) in mouse hepatocytes AML12 using dose-response metabolomics. Specifically, our objectives are to: Identify key metabolites that respond to Nd(NO3)3 exposure.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

VDAC1 Intervention Alleviates Bisphenol AF-Induced Succinate Metabolism Dysregulation and Inflammatory Responses

open access: yesPharmaceuticals
Background/Objectives: Bisphenol AF (BPAF) is a prevalent environmental contaminant with demonstrated metabolic and immunological toxicity. This study aimed to investigate whether VDAC1 (Voltage-Dependent Anion Channel 1) mediates BPAF-induced succinate ...
