Combined Management Response and Indicator Based Evaluation Methodology of Implementation of Environmental Management System at a Wood Pellet Production Industry

open access: yes
The sustainability factor stimulates industrial companies to be more active and precise in improving their performance in relation to energy efficiency and environmental indicators. One of the more widespread practises to introduce improvements in energy

Refinement of amino‐acid conformation vs. difference density maps in time‐resolved serial femtosecond crystallography data analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The dFoCC pipeline starts with observed DED and resting‐state coordinates, which are then used to generate a library of triggered states. Correlation analysis of the calculated DED features of each candidate vs observed DED permits quantitative evaluation of candidate structural quality.

Early‐life high‐fat diet exposure increases Achilles tendon stiffness and induces transcriptomic alterations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.

Impact of Environmental Objectives on Optimal Budget Allocations for Agro-environmental Measures — A Case Study for Poland

open access: yes
Several studies have analyzed the importance of biotical and abiotical aspects to be considered in the evaluation of agro-environmental policies. However, only a few of them have addressed the problem of targeting agro-environmental policies.

Sudden anaerobization in Amphibacillus xylanus increases intracellular labile ferrous iron and inhibits cell growth

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...
