Environmental
AbstractAlthough the use and development of molecular biomonitoring tools based on environmental nucleic acids (eDNA and eRNA; collectively known as eNAs) have gained broad interest for the quantification of biodiversity in natural ecosystems, studies investigating the impact of site‐specific physicochemical parameters on eNA‐based detection methods ...

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Poly(A) tail regulation in stem cells and early development
Eukaryotic mRNAs are polyadenylated at their 3’-ends, and the poly(A) tails play critical roles in post-transcriptional gene regulation by influencing mRNA stability and translation.

In situ structures of the segmented genome and RNA polymerase complex inside a dsRNA virus. [PDF]
Viruses in the Reoviridae, like the triple-shelled human rotavirus and the single-shelled insect cytoplasmic polyhedrosis virus (CPV), all package a genome of segmented double-stranded RNAs (dsRNAs) inside the viral capsid and carry out endogenous ...

RNAi efficiency, systemic properties, and novel delivery methods for pest insect control : what we know so far [PDF]
In recent years, the research on the potential of using RNA interference (RNAi) to suppress crop pests has made an outstanding growth. However, given the variability of RNAi efficiency that is observed in many insects, the development of novel approaches

Methodological considerations for aqueous environmental RNA collection, preservation, and extraction
Environmental RNA (eRNA) analysis is expected to infer species' physiological information (health status, developmental stage, and environmental stress response) and their distribution and composition more correctly than environmental DNA (eDNA) analysis.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...
