Enzymatic Glycerolysis of Palm and Palm Kernel Oils

Chemical Engineering Communications, 2005
Abstract Glycerolysis of palm and palm kernel oils were carried out using commercial lipases from Candida antarctica (Novozym 435) and Mucor miehei (Novozym 388) as catalyst (500 units lipase/g oil) at 40°C and with an oil:glycerol molar ratio of 1:2 in a solvent-free system.

Enzymatic glycerolysis for conversion of sunflower oil to food based emulsifiers

Catalysis Today, 2014
Abstract High temperature glycerolysis widely used in industrial scale for production of food-based emulsifiers has many disadvantages. On the other hand, high cost, unavailability, low activity and high reaction time of enzymes limit the use in industrial scale glycerolysis reactions for the production of food-based emulsifiers (i.e. monoglycerides).

A comparative study on production of middle chain diacylglycerol through enzymatic esterification and glycerolysis

Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry, 2013
Abstract A comparative study on lipase catalyzed production of middle chain diacylglycerol was conducted with esterification of glycerol and glycerolysis of triacylglycerol, respectively, in which high diacylglycerol yield and high acyl donor conversion are two desired goals.

Evaluation of Binary Solvent Mixtures for Efficient Monoacylglycerol Production by Continuous Enzymatic Glycerolysis

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2006
This study was aimed at evaluating different binary solvent mixtures for efficient industrial monoacylglycerol (MAG) production by enzymatic glycerolysis. Of all investigated cases, the binary mixture of tert-butanol:tert-pentanol (TB:TP) 80:20 vol % was the most suitable organic medium for continuous enzymatic glycerolysis, ensuring high MAG formation

Synthesis of docosapentaenoic acid-enriched diacylglycerols by enzymatic glycerolysis of Schizochytrium sp. oil

Bioresource Technology, 2018
Utilization of algae oil and glycerol for preparation of value-added products is vital for sustainable development of related industries. In this study, we aimed to prepare highly pure diacylglycerols (DAG) rich in docosapentaenoic acid (DPA). First, content of DPA in form of triacylglycerols (TAG) increased from 16.4% to 28.1% after low-temperature ...

Further improvements in the yield of monoglycerides during enzymatic glycerolysis of fats and oils

Journal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, 1991
Three approaches were used in an effort to increase the yield of monoglycerides (MG) during the lipase catalyzed reaction of glycerol with triglyceride fats and oils: i) various commercially available lipases were screened for ability to catalyze MG synthesis; ii) mixtures of lipases were compared with single lipases; and iii) two‐step temperature ...

A cleaner approach for biodegradable lubricants production by enzymatic glycerolysis of castor oil and kinetic analysis

Journal of Cleaner Production, 2018
Abstract Monoricinolein (MRO) and diricinolein (DRO) were renewable and biodegradable lubricants. In this paper, MRO and DRO were prepared by the novel cleaner enzymatic glycerolysis of castor oil (CO) in solvent-free system. Three commercial immobilized lipases (Novozym 435, Lipozyme RM IM and Lipozyme TL IM) were screened and compared, and Novozym ...

Production and concentration of monoacylglycerols rich in omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids by enzymatic glycerolysis and molecular distillation

open access: yesFood Chemistry, 2016
Production of monoacylglycerols (MAGs) rich in ω-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 PUFAs) was conducted through short path distillation (SPD) of an acylglycerol mixture (containing 67% MAGs) produced by enzymatic glycerolysis of sardine oil with glycerol.

Optimization of mono and diacylglycerols production from enzymatic glycerolysis in solvent-free systems

Bioprocess and Biosystems Engineering, 2009
This work reports solvent-free enzymatic glycerolysis of olive oil with an immobilized lipase (Novozym 435) using Tween 40, Tween 65, Tween 80, Tween 85, Triton X-100, and soy lecithin as surfactants. The first step was the screening of two potential surfactants for Monoacylglycerol (MAG) and Diacylglycerol (DAG) production with a pre-established ...

Encapsulation of lipases by nucleotide/metal ion coordination polymers: enzymatic properties and their applications in glycerolysis and esterification studies

Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, 2022
AbstractBACKGROUNDIn the present study, lipases of TLL (lipase from Thermomyces lanuginosus), AOL (lipase from Aspergillus oryzae), RML (lipase from Rhizomucor miehei), BCL (lipase from Burkholderia cepacia), CALA (Candida antarctica lipase A) and LU (Lecitase® Ultra) were encapsulated into nucleotide‐hybrid metal coordination polymers (CPs).
