Induction of Herbicide Detoxifying Enzyme in Maize by Chiral 3-Dichloroacetyl Oxazolidine

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Sciences, 2018
Safeners are important tools used to ensure to safe useof herbicide. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the protective effect of four safeners (R-28725, 3-dichloroacetyl oxazolidine and its two optical isomers) and investigate the mechanism of ...

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Polyphenol Oxidase Induction in Lulo Fruits (Solanum quitoense) Infected by Colletotrichum acutatum

open access: yesActa Biológica Colombiana, 2007
Polyphenol oxidase (PFO) activity induction was evaluated in lulo fruits to determine the role of this enzyme in resistance responses towards the pathogen Colletotrichum acutatum which causes anthracnose disease. We studied the experimental conditions to

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Cloning and Optimization of Formate Dehydrogenase Gene Expression in E. COLI [PDF]

open access: yesMajallah-i Dānishgāh-i ’Ulūm-i Pizishkī-i Shahīd Ṣadūqī Yazd
Introduction: The increase in greenhouse gas levels and the gradual warming of the earth have garnered worldwide interest. The enzyme formate-dehydrogenase can reduce CO2 by converting it into formate, which is subsequently converted into methanol by the

Effects of Different Inducers on Higher Alcohol Dehydrogenase from Galactomyces geotrichum

open access: yesShipin gongye ke-ji
The inducers of the chemical or physical factors could affect the gene expression and transcription of strain directly or indirectly. In order to explore the inductive effect of higher alcohol on Galactomyces geotrichum, the G.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

The ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy as guardians of the cellular proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This Perspective covers the three principles governing the crosstalk between the ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy in cellular proteostasis: (1) a shared ubiquitin code routing substrates via shuttle factors or autophagy receptors; (2) spatial compartmentalization into phase‐separated degradation hubs and organelle‐specific modules (exemplified
