Role of African swine fever virus (ASFV) proteins EP153R and EP402R in reducing viral persistence and virulence from attenuated BeninΔDP148R [PDF]
AbstractThe limited knowledge on the role of many of the approximately 170 proteins encoded by African swine fever virus restricts progress towards vaccine development. In this study we investigated the effect of deleting combinations of different genes from a previously attenuated virus, BeninΔDP148R on: virus replication in macrophages, virus ...

CD2v interacts with Adaptor Protein AP-1 during African swine fever infection [PDF]
African swine fever virus (ASFV) CD2v protein is believed to be involved in virulence enhancement, viral hemadsorption, and pathogenesis, although the molecular mechanisms of the function of this viral protein are still not fully understood.

Three partial genes sequences p72 capsid protein of the B646L, p54 envelope protein of E183L, and the central variable region (CVR) within B602L of African swine fever virus from Nigeria were characterised. We found an increase in tandem repeat sequence (TRS) variants, and three variants (Tet‐21b, Tet‐31 and Tet‐34) were identified for the first time ...

Investigation of the First African Swine Fever Outbreak in a Domestic Pig Farm in Hong Kong
In this study, we describe the epidemiological investigation of the first African swine fever (ASF) outbreak in a local domestic pig farm in the New Territories of Hong Kong in 2021. In the outbreak farm, several affected pigs presented clinical and pathological signs consistent with ASF, while the remaining pigs showed nonspecific clinical signs or ...

African swine fever virus (ASFV) is a lethal swine pathogen, and there is no effective vaccine or treatment available for ASFV infection. Recently, the occurrence of ASFV genotype I and genotype II natural mutants that manifest as subacute, longer‐incubation, or persistent infections poses threats to preventing ASFV infection.

Vaccines for African swine fever: an update [PDF]
African swine fever (ASF) is a fatal infectious disease of swine caused by the African swine fever virus (ASFV). Currently, the disease is listed as a legally notifiable disease that must be reported to the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH ...

We report the development of a novel method for sub‐grouping genotype II African swine fever virus based on the intergenic region between the A179L and A137R genes. We have identified an insertion or deletion of an 11‐nucleotide sequence that may help analysis of the evolution and relationships between geographically separated outbreaks.
