Identification of specific EP receptors responsible for the hemodynamic effects of PGE2

open access: yes, 1999
To identify the E-prostanoid (EP) receptors that mediate the hemodynamic actions of PGE2, we studied acute vascular responses to infusions of PGE2using lines of mice in which each of four EP receptors (EP1through EP4) have been disrupted by gene ...

A Novel Drug‐Loaded Porous Parylene Electrode for Targeted Anti‐Inflammatory Therapy and Hearing Preservation in Cochlear Implantation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A porous parylene‐coated electrode loaded with dexamethasone was developed to reduce inflammation after cochlear implantation. In guinea pigs, the device provided sustained drug release, maintained biocompatibility, improved auditory brainstem response thresholds, and reduced inflammatory cell infiltration and TNF‐α expression.

Cyclooxygenase-2 enhances α2β1 integrin expression and cell migration via EP1 dependent signaling pathway in human chondrosarcoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Cancer, 2010
Background Cyclooxygenase (COX)-2, the inducible isoform of prostaglandin (PG) synthase, has been implicated in tumor metastasis. Interaction of COX-2 with its specific EP receptors on the surface of cancer cells has been reported to induce cancer ...

Activation of prostaglandin EP receptors by lubiprostone in rat and human stomach and colon [PDF]

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, 2008
Background and purpose: Lubiprostone (Amitiza), a possible ClC‐2 channel opener derived from prostaglandin E1 and indicated for the treatment of constipation, increases chloride ion transport and fluid secretion into the intestinal lumen. As lubiprostone may also directly modulate gastrointestinal motility, we investigated its actions and the possible ...

[Gastrointestinal cytoprotection by prostaglandin E and EP receptor subtypes].

open access: yesNihon yakurigaku zasshi. Folia pharmacologica Japonica, 2001
Endogenous prostaglandins (PGs) play important roles in modulating the mucosal integrity and various functions of the gastrointestinal tract. Among them, E-type PGs are most effective in these actions. This article reviews recent studies dealing with the relationship of the cytoprotective action of PGE2- and EP-receptor subtypes in the gastrointestinal

Prostaglandin E2-Induced Cell Death is Mediated by Activation of EP2 Receptors in Motor Neuron-like NSC-34 Cells

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2013
.: Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) was shown to induce neuronal death in the CNS. To characterize the neurotoxicity of PGE2 and E-prostanoid receptors (EP) in motor neurons, we investigated PGE2-induced cell death and the type(s) of EP responsible for mediating ...

Neuromorphic Electronics for Intelligence Everywhere: Emerging Devices, Flexible Platforms, and Scalable System Architectures

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The perspective presents an integrated view of neuromorphic technologies, from device physics to real‐time applicability, while highlighting the necessity of full‐stack co‐optimization. By outlining practical hardware‐level strategies to exploit device behavior and mitigate non‐idealities, it shows pathways for building efficient, scalable, and ...

Functional prostaglandin E (EP) receptors in human penile corpus cavernosum [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Impotence Research, 2003
In this study, we have characterized functional EP receptors in human corpus cavernosum (HCC) tissue and in HCC smooth muscle cells (SMC). Using RNase protection assays, we determined expression of EP2, EP3I and EP3II receptor mRNA. In organ bath preparations of HCC tissue strips, PGE1 caused dose-dependent relaxation at concentrations below 300 nM. At

Purinergic receptors in skeletal muscles in health and in muscular dystrophy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The P2 purinergic (nucleotide) receptor super-family comprises of two families of protein. The P2X, which are channel-forming ionotropic receptors and the P2Y metabotropic receptors activating G protein-mediated signalling pathways.
