Identification and Analysis of Transition and Metastable Markov States [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. X 7, 031060 (2017), 2016
We present a new method that enables the identification and analysis of both transition and metastable conformational states from atomistic or coarse-grained molecular dynamics (MD) trajectories. Our algorithm is presented and studied by using both analytical and actual examples from MD simulations of the helix-forming peptide Ala5, and of a larger ...

Polyfunctional CD8+CD226+RUNX2hi effector T cells are diminished in advanced stages of chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CD226+CD8+ T cells express elevated levels of RUNX2, exhibit higher proliferation capacity, cytokines and cytolytic molecules expression, and migratory capacity. In contrast, CD226−CD8+ T cells display an exhausted phenotype associated with the increased expression of co‐inhibitory receptors and impaired effector functions.

BCI: Breast Cancer Immunohistochemical Image Generation through Pyramid Pix2pix [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
The evaluation of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) expression is essential to formulate a precise treatment for breast cancer. The routine evaluation of HER2 is conducted with immunohistochemical techniques (IHC), which is very expensive.

Immunohistochemical study of epidermal growth factor and epidermal growth factor receptor in gastric carcinoma [PDF]

open access: yesCancer, 1989
Immunohistochemical study for epidermal growth factor (EGF) and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) was performed on 222 specimens of gastric carcinoma. The authors placed each carcinoma into one of the following three groups: group 1, neither EGF nor EGFR was stained (123 cases); group 2, either EGF or EGFR was stained (64 cases); and group 3 ...

Cystatin A promotes the antitumor activity of T helper type 1 cells and dendritic cells in murine models of pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a disease with very poor prognosis due to therapeutic limitations. We investigated the antitumor effects of cystatin A (CSTA) in PDAC murine models. We are first to confirm that CSTA enhances T helper type 1‐mediated antitumor effects through promotion of dendritic cells and M1 macrophage activity. CSTA can be

Potential Role of EGF and EGFR in Tongue Coating Formation

open access: yesWorld Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine, 2016
Tongue coating, as a sensitive index of the physiological and pathological changes of human organs, is an important basis for the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) syndrome differentiation and treatment.

Multiplexed five-color molecular imaging of cancer cells and tumor tissues with carbon nanotube Raman tags in the near-infrared [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) with five different C13/C12 isotope compositions and well-separated Raman peaks have been synthesized and conjugated to five targeting ligands in order to impart molecular specificity. Multiplexed Raman imaging of live cells has been carried out by highly specific staining of cells with a five-color mixture of ...

Structural insights into characterizing binding sites in EGFR kinase mutants [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Information and Modeling, 2018, 2018
Over the last two decades epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) kinase has become an important target to treat non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Currently, three generations of EGFR kinase-targeted small molecule drugs have been FDA approved. They nominally produce a response at the start of treatment and lead to a substantial survival benefit for ...

The epidermal growth factor receptor is not a receptor for vaccinia virus [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 1994
It has been suggested that the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) is a receptor for vaccinia virus. Other reports, although not specifically addressing this question, did not support such a role for the EGFR. We addressed this issue by using wild-type virus and a virus growth factor deletion mutant, as well as sets of cells that do not express ...

MET variants with activating N‐lobe mutations identified in hereditary papillary renal cell carcinomas still require ligand stimulation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MET variants in the N‐lobe of the kinase domain, found in hereditary papillary renal cell carcinoma, require ligand stimulation to promote cell transformation, in contrast to other RTK variants. This suggests that HGF expression in the microenvironment is important for tumor growth in such patients. Their sensitivity to MET inhibitors opens the way for
