Research progress in targeted therapy for gastric cancer

open access: yesZhongguo linchuang yanjiu
Gastric cancer is a common malignant tumor worldwide, and its incidence rate and mortality have always been in the forefront. Most gastric cancer patients in China are diagnosed in the middle or late stages, with an unsatisfactory 5- year survival rate ...

Mitosis, Cytoskeleton Regulation, and Drug Resistance in Receptor Triple Negative Breast Cancer [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
During cell division, the receptor triple-negative MDA-MB-231 mitotic spindles are the largest in comparison to other BC cell lines. Many of the MDA-MB-231 spindles exhibit rapid lateral twisting during metaphase, which remains unaffected by knockdown of the oncogene Myc and treatment with inhibitors of the serine/threonine-protein kinase B-Raf and the

Memory effects in biochemical networks as the natural counterpart of extrinsic noise [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
We show that in the generic situation where a biological network, e.g. a protein interaction network, is in fact a subnetwork embedded in a larger "bulk" network, the presence of the bulk causes not just extrinsic noise but also memory effects. This means that the dynamics of the subnetwork will depend not only on its present state, but also its past ...

Retrospective analysis to assess the feasibility of escalated dose of nimotuzumab in patients with locally advanced head and neck cancer

open access: yesJournal of Radiation and Cancer Research, 2017
Introduction: Head and neck cancer (HNC) has large worldwide prevalence and accounts for almost 5% among all types of cancers. Nimotuzumab is a humanized anti-epidermal growth factor receptor monoclonal antibody that has shown promising results in ...

Butyrate down-regulates CD44 transcription and liver colonisation in a highly metastatic human colon carcinoma cell line [PDF]

open access: yes
Over-expression of the adhesion molecule CD44 and its splice variants, especially CD44v6, is associated with poor prognosis and metastasis. We aimed at regulating the expression of CD44 in the highly metastatic human colon cancer cell line HM7 and ...

Engineered Peptides‐Based Hybrid‐Nested Microneedle Effectively Treat Biofilm‐Infected Diabetic Wounds

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A hybrid‐nested microneedle/cryogel scaffold (MQW‐CMg‐MOF) is designed for efficient biofilm removal and accelerated healing of diabetic wounds. The scaffold shows substantial biofilm removal in vitro and in a preclinical diabetic swine biofilm‐infected wound model compared to the control.
