Introduction: This article aims to address the topic of doctrinal expert medicine in a biopsychosocial epistemological study of the concepts of epigenesis and epigenetics from a perspective that contemplates the biological, psychic and social approaches,

The Epigenesis of Wariness of Heights [PDF]
Human infants with little or no crawling experience surprisingly show no wariness of heights, but such wariness becomes exceptionally strong over the life span. Neither depth perception nor falling experiences explain this extraordinary developmental shift; however, something about locomotor experience does.

A critical step in animal development is the specification of primordial germ cells (PGCs), the precursors of the germline. Two seemingly mutually exclusive mechanisms are implemented across the animal kingdom: epigenesis and preformation. In epigenesis,

The Locus of Affection. Intersubjective Life from Enaction to Epigenesis [PDF]
How is it possible for me to engage in an intersubjective world? In enactivism, cognition is defined as the living system’s interaction with the meaningful world. What is missing, here, is the conceptualization of intersubjectivity.

An Anaerobic Microbial Community Mediates Epigenetic Native Sulfur and Carbonate Formation During Replacement of Messinian Gypsum at Monte Palco, Sicily. [PDF]
ABSTRACT The microbially mediated replacement of sulfate‐bearing evaporites by authigenic carbonate and native sulfur under anoxic conditions is poorly understood. Sulfur‐bearing carbonates from the Monte Palco ridge (Sicily) replacing Messinian gypsum were therefore studied to better characterize the involved microorganisms.

Association Between <i>rs920778</i> Polymorphisms and Cancer Risk: An Updated Meta-Analysis. [PDF]
Background: A growing number of studies are exploring the association between HOTAIR rs920778 polymorphisms and cancer risk, but to date, there has been controversy and uncertainty. Preliminary evidence suggests that this polymorphism may influence cancer susceptibility, particularly in Asian populations and specific cancer types such as cervical ...

Mitochondria and metazoan epigenesis [PDF]
In eukaryotes, mitochondrial activity controls ATP production, calcium dynamics, and redox state, thereby establishing physiological parameters governing the transduction of biochemical signals that regulate nuclear gene expression. However, these activities are commonly assumed to fulfill a 'housekeeping' function: necessary for life, but an ...

Bringing Biology Back In: The Unresolved Issue of “Epigenesis” in Kant [PDF]
Epigenesis has become a far more exciting issue in Kant studies recently, especially with the publication of Jennifer Mensch’s Kant’ Organicism. In my commentary, I propose to clarify my own position on epigenesis relative to that of Mensch by once again

Adaptive branching in Evolution and Epigenesis [PDF]
We describe one of the simplest models that exhibit an adaptive branching behaviour. It is analysed both experimentally and formally, and its successive bifurcations provide a good model of what R. Thom called 'generalized catastrophes'. Two theorems on the stochastic adaptivity of the algorithm to very general shapes of target are given.
