Crystal structure of β-d,l-allose

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E: Crystallographic Communications, 2015
The title compound, C6H12O6, a C-3 position epimer of glucose, was crystallized from an equimolar mixture of d- and l-allose. It was confirmed that d-allose (l-allose) formed β-pyranose with a 4C1 (1C4) conformation in the crystal.

Preparative Synthesis of dTDP-L-Rhamnose Through Combined Enzymatic Pathways

open access: yes, 2005
dTDP-L-rhamnose, an important precursor of O-antigen, was prepared on a large scale from dTMP by executing an one-pot reaction in which six enzymes are involved. Two enzymes, dTDP-4-keto-6-deoxy-D-glucose 3,5-epimerase and dTDP-4-keto-rhamnose reductase,

Phage-encoded enzymes found in Acinetobacter baumannii convert pseudaminic acid to 8-epipseudaminic acid

open access: yesCommunications Biology
The nonulosonic acid 8-epipseudaminic acid was discovered only recently in two Acinetobacter baumannii strains but the genes responsible for conversion of pseudaminic acid to its 8-epimer were not found at the K locus.

Genomics-inspired discovery of massiliachelin, an agrochelin epimer from Massilia sp. NR 4-1

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2019
A putative siderophore locus was detected in the genome of the violacein-producing bacterium Massilia sp. NR 4-1 and predicted to direct the biosynthesis of a molecule that is structurally related to the thiazoline-containing siderophore micacocidin.

Sphingolipid bases. A revisitation of the O-methyl derivatives of sphingosine. Isolation and characterization of diacetate derivatives, with revised 13C nuclear magnetic resonance assignments for D-erythro-sphingosine.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1995
As described by Carter et al. (J. Biol. Chem. 1951. 192: 197-207), O-methyl derivatives of sphingosine are formed upon acid hydrolysis of sphingolipids in the presence of methanol.

Forward-predictive SERS-based chemical taxonomy for untargeted structural elucidation of epimeric cerebrosides

open access: yesNature Communications
Achieving untargeted chemical identification, isomeric differentiation, and quantification is critical to most scientific and technological problems but remains challenging. Here, we demonstrate an integrated SERS-based chemical taxonomy machine learning
