Smokeless tobacco use and oral epithelial dysplasia [PDF]

open access: yesCancer, 1989
One hundred eight patients with a histologically confirmed diagnosis of epithelial dysplasia of the oral cavity and a prior history of smokeless tobacco (ST) usage were identified. The mean age at time of diagnosis for female patients was almost a decade later than for male patients (63.6 versus 51.2 years).

Extracellular Vesicles of Streptococcus anginosus Mediate Gastritis via Epithelial Barrier Disruption and Macrophage‐driven Inflammation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Streptococcus anginosus extracellular vesicles (SA‐EVs) accumulate in gastric tissue, disrupt epithelial tight junctions, and induce gastritis characterized by neutrophil infiltration and elevated cytokines (TNF‐α, IL‐6, IL‐17A). Proteomics identifies TMPC and FBP62 as key SA‐EVs virulence factors; their genetic deletion attenuates inflammation ...

Anti-cytokeratin 7: a positive marker for epithelial dysplasia in flat bowel mucosa

open access: yesBiomolecules & Biomedicine, 2004
The aim of this paper is to establish by immunohistochemistry the expression of keratin 7 in inflammatory-regenerative flat bowel mucosa and in different grades of epithelial dysplasia regarding the sub-units expressed in normal and carcinomatous ...

Expression of p16 in pterygium and its relation with epithelial dysplasia and possible etiologic role of HPV

open access: yesIndian Journal of Pathology and Microbiology, 2022
Context: p16 is an important tumor suppressor gene and responsible for regulating the cell cycle. Diffuse positivity with p16 in the cervix and head/neck carcinomas can be regarded as a surrogate marker of the presence of high-risk human papillomavirus ...

[Gastric epithelial dysplasia].

open access: yesIl Giornale di chirurgia, 2000
Gastric epithelial dysplasia represents the only true histological marker of gastric cancer. In this bringing up to date, such subject is reproposed in consideration of taking into account the most recent acquisitions, subdividing gastric dysplasia into two degrees only: moderate and severe. For the first time an immunophenotypic study is made by means

Ufmylation‐Deficient DDRGK1 Ameliorates Obesity by Inhibiting FASN‐Mediated Adipocyte Lipogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
DDRGK1 regulates de novo lipogenesis via stabilization of fatty acid synthase (FASN). DDRGK1‐mediated UFMylation of FASN prevents its ubiquitin–proteasomal degradation. Reduced DDRGK1 expression or mutation at the key UFMylation site enhances FASN degradation and suppresses fatty acid synthesis (FAS), resulting in smaller adipocytes and improved ...

Immunohistochemical study of P53 protein expression in the development of squamous cell carcinoma of the oral mucosa

open access: yesRUDN Journal of Medicine
Relevance. Studies on the development of squamous cell carcinoma of the oral mucosa are of paramount importance due to the widespread of the disease and its aggressive course. When histological examination of the development of squamous cell carcinoma of

OCIAD2 Stabilizes Integrin β1 Signaling Through SNX17‐Mediated Endosomal Recycling to Lipid Rafts and Modulates Cisplatin Response in HNSCC

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies OCIAD2 as a critical regulator of cisplatin resistance in HNSCC. Mechanistically, OCIAD2 stabilizes integrin β1 through a direct physical interaction and facilitates its SNX17‐dependent endosomal recycling to lipid raft microdomains. Targeting OCIAD2 disrupts integrin β1 trafficking and significantly enhances cisplatin sensitivity,

The Regulatory Role of Iron Transporter SLC39A13 in Liver Fibrosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
SLC39A13/ZIP13, a newly discovered intracellular iron transporter, delivers iron to the ER/Golgi to catalyze procollagen hydroxylation during collagen maturation. Here, we systematically characterize the cell type‐specific functions of ZIP13 across distinct hepatic cell populations, and identify hepatic stellate cell‐specific ZIP13 as a promising and ...
