The Constraint of Crewed Mars Missions Based on Current Radiation Dose Measurements

open access: yesSpace Weather, Volume 24, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract Crewed missions to Mars will be a milestone of future space exploration programs. However, the absence of Earth's magnetic field leaves astronauts directly exposed to unattenuated energetic particles in deep space, primarily galactic cosmic rays (GCRs), resulting in significantly higher radiation levels and enhanced health risks. Understanding

Irrigation Monitoring With Cosmic‐Ray Neutron Sensors: Unraveling Field Experiments With Neutron Transport Simulations

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract Irrigation is essential for stabilizing yields and sustaining food production, yet it faces increasing challenges, especially in water‐scarce regions. Cosmic‐ray neutron sensors (CRNS) are a promising tool in irrigation management as they can continuously monitor soil water content (SWC) over large areas.

Nuclear Disarmament Verification via Resonant Phenomena

open access: yes, 2017
Nuclear disarmament treaties are not sufficient in and of themselves to neutralize the existential threat of the nuclear weapons. Technologies are necessary for verifying the authenticity of the nuclear warheads undergoing dismantlement before counting ...

Bright Monocompound Metal Halide Scintillator for Fast Neutron Radiography

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 3, 8 January 2026.
Metal halide scintillator, tetraphenylphosphonium manganese bromide (TPP2MnBr4), provides a significant benefit for fast neutron imaging. A fourfold increase in efficiency over traditional zinc sulfide screens is achieved by efficiently utilizing neutron interactions within its homogeneous structure.

Holocene Glacial–Paraglacial–Periglacial Transitions of a Sub‐Arctic Glacial Cirque, Fremri‐Grasárdalur, Northern Iceland

open access: yesPermafrost and Periglacial Processes, Volume 37, Issue 1, Page 78-106, January/March 2026.
ABSTRACT The aim of this work is to study a variety of glacial, periglacial and paraglacial features found in a small cirque, Fremri‐Grasárdalur, in Tröllaskagi (Northern Iceland). We implement a multidisciplinary approach combining high‐resolution geomorphological mapping, horizontal/vertical boulder displacement (from 1994 to 2019) and surface ...
