Valorization of CO2 through the Synthesis of Cyclic Carbonates Catalyzed by ZIFs

open access: yesMolecules, 2022
One way to exploit CO2 is to use it as a feedstock for the production of cyclic carbonates via its reaction with organic epoxides. As far as we know, there is still no heterogeneous catalyst that accelerates the reaction in a selective, efficient and ...

A straightforward approach towards combined α-amino and α-hydroxy acids based on Passerini reactions

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2011
Complex amino acids with an α-acyloxycarbonyl functionality in the side chain are easily available through epoxide opening by chelated enolates and subsequent oxidation/Passerini reaction. This protocol works with both, aldehyde and ketone intermediates,

Epoxides and Soluble Epoxide Hydrolase in Cardiovascular Physiology [PDF]

open access: yesPhysiological Reviews, 2012
Epoxyeicosatrienoic acids (EETs) are arachidonic acid metabolites that importantly contribute to vascular and cardiac physiology. The contribution of EETs to vascular and cardiac function is further influenced by soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) that degrades EETs to diols. Vascular actions of EETs include dilation and angiogenesis.

A model study of epothilone synthesis: an alternative synthetic approach to the C1–C7 fragment [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society, 2002
In this model study an alternative synthetic approach to the C1–C7 fragment of epothilones was investigated. Starting from 4,4-dimethylcyclopentenone, a 7 step reaction sequence afforded the key intermediate 7 in 27 % overall yield.

Alkenes from β-lithiooxyphosphonium ylides generated by trapping α-lithiated terminal epoxides with triphenylphosphine

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2012
Terminal epoxides undergo lithium 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidide-induced α-lithiation and subsequent interception with Ph3P to provide a new and direct entry to β-lithiooxyphosphonium ylides.
