An algebraic description of screw dislocations in SC and BCC crystal lattices

open access: yesPacific Journal of Mathematics for Industry, 2018
We give an algebraic description of screw dislocations in a crystal, especially simple cubic (SC) and body centered cubic (BCC) crystals, using free abelian groups and fibering structures.

A Generalization of Epstein’s Zeta Function [PDF]

open access: yesNagoya Mathematical Journal, 1971
Koecher defined in [3] the following zeta function associated with the matrixS(n)of a positive quadratic form and one complex variableρ(1)

Some Convexity Properties of Dirichlet Series with Positive Terms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Some basic results for Dirichlet series ψ with positive terms via log-convexity properties are pointed out. Applications for Zeta, Lambda and Eta functions are considered.

ON THE EPSTEIN ZETA FUNCTION

open access: yesTamkang Journal of Mathematics, 1996
The Epstein zeta function $Z(s)$ is defined for Re$s > 1$ by \[Z(s)=\sum_{m,n=-\infty, (m, n)\neq (0, 0)}^\infty \frac{1}{(am^2−bnm+cn^2)^s}\] where $a$, $b$, $c$ are real numbers with $a>0$ and $b^2 - 4ac<0$. $Z(s)$ can be continued analytically to the whole complex plane except for a simple pole at $s =1$.

Chimeric Antigen Receptor Signaling Domains Differentially Regulate Proliferation and Native T Cell Receptor Function in Virus-Specific T Cells

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine, 2018
The efficacy of T cells expressing chimeric antigen receptors (CARs) for solid tumors has been limited by insufficient CAR T cell expansion and persistence.

A joint discrete limit theorem for Epstein and Hurwitz zeta-functions

open access: yesMathematical Modelling and Analysis
In the paper, we obtain a joint limit theorem on weak convergence for probability measure defined by discrete shifts of the Epstein and Hurwitz zeta-functions. The limit measure is explicitly given.

Functional equations for zeta functions of groups and rings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We introduce a new method to compute explicit formulae for various zeta functions associated to groups and rings. The specific form of these formulae enables us to deduce local functional equations. More precisely, we prove local functional equations for

A Minimum Problem for the Epstein Zeta-Function [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Glasgow Mathematical Association, 1953
In some recent work by D. G. Kendall and the author † on the number of points of a lattice which lie in a random circle the mean value of the variance emerged as a constant multiple of the value of the Epstein zeta-functionZ(s)associated with the lattice, taken at the point s=.

A Tapestry of Ideas with Ramanujan’s Formula Woven In

open access: yesAxioms
Zeta-functions play a fundamental role in many fields where there is a norm or a means to measure distance. They are usually given in the forms of Dirichlet series (additive), and they sometimes possess the Euler product (multiplicative) when the domain ...

Linear law for the logarithms of the Riemann periods at simple critical zeta zeros [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Each simple zero 1/2 + iγn of the Riemann zeta function on the critical line with γn > 0 is a center for the flow s˙ = ξ(s) of the Riemann xi function with an associated period Tn. It is shown that, as γn →∞, log Tn ≥ π/4 γn + O(log γn).
