Zero-Density Estimates for Epstein Zeta Functions* [PDF]
We investigate the zeros of Epstein zeta functions associated with a positive definite quadratic form with rational coefficients in the vertical strip $ σ_1 < \Re s < σ_2 $, where $ 1/2 < σ_1 < σ_2 < 1 $. When the class number of the quadratic form is bigger than 1, Voronin gives a lower bound and Lee gives an asymptotic formula for the ...

Hecke–Siegel's pull-back formula for the Epstein zeta function with a harmonic polynomial [PDF]
In this paper, we discuss the generalization of the Hecke's integration formula for the Epstein zeta functions. We treat the Epstein zeta function as an Eisenstein series come from a degenerate principal series.

A new scale‐selective measure of curvature for meteorological fields
We introduce a novel diagnostic called curvature using radial variation (CURV) that quantifies the local cyclonic or anticyclonic curvature of mean‐sea‐level pressure or geopotential height gridded fields over selected scales. A depiction of how CURV values relate to differing cyclonic curvature is shown in the figure.

Numerical weather prediction output necessitates calibration, as weather model systems are unable to replicate the correct statistics of observations. Such processing is especially important when predicting extreme weather. Calibration methods function by learning from prediction inadequacies during a training phase and by exploiting this information ...

Extension of a Bohr-Jessen type theorem for the Epstein zeta-function in short intervals
Let $Q$ be a positive definite $n \times n$ matrix, $n \in 2\mathbb{N}$, $n \geqslant4$. The Epstein zeta-function $\zeta(s; Q)$, defined for $\mathrm{Re}\,s > \tfrac{n}{2}$, is given by $\zeta(s; Q) = \sum_{\underline{x} \in \mathbb{Z}^n \setminus ...

Salient Rewards, Payoff Protocols and Biased Data
ABSTRACT Paying salient rewards to subjects is expensive. Is it worth it? We describe previous data from otherwise identical treatments with hypothetical or salient payoffs that indicate opposite conclusions about the central research question in a paper. If we are going to pay salient rewards, how should we? The answer depends on the theoretical model
