Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Numerical simulation on the combustion characteristics of scramjet at high Mach number

open access: yesDefence Technology
To investigate the problem of ethylene jet mixing and combustion in the scramjet at high Mach number (Ma = 8), numerical simulations were carried out for different equivalent ratios at cold and combustion conditions, in which three-dimensional steady ...

Characteristics of the Multiple Injection Diesel Spray Employed Common Rail System

open access: yesJournal of Thermal Science and Technology, 2013
The multiple injection strategies have been widely employed in many new diesel applications, such as HCCI (Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition) and LTC (Low Temperature Combustion), which are very effective in improving fuel-air mixture and ...

Gasification of Coffee Parchment as Potential Method for Coffee Agro-Industry Waste Utilization

open access: yesJurnal Rekayasa Kimia & Lingkungan, 2023
Coffee parchment is a lignocellulosic waste material which has a potential to transform into synthesis gas. This research aims to study the feasibility of coffee parchment conversion under downdraft gasification with ‘auto-heating’ supply method.

Multiple ETS family transcription factors bind mutant p53 via distinct interaction regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mutant p53 gain‐of‐function is thought to be mediated by interaction with other transcription factors. We identify multiple ETS transcription factors that can bind mutant p53 and found that this interaction can be promoted by a PXXPP motif. ETS proteins that strongly bound mutant p53 were upregulated in ovarian cancer compared to ETS proteins that ...

Numerical Prediction on In-Cylinder Mixture Formation and Combustion Characteristics for SIDI Engine Fueled with Hydrogen: Effect of Injection Angle and Equivalence Ratio

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
Although their ease of transport, storage, and use makes hydrocarbon fuels dominant in commercial energy systems, the emission of harmful gases, including greenhouse gases, is a fatal disadvantage.

Impact of Equivalence Ratio on the Macrostructure of Premixed Swirling CH4/Air and CH4/O2/CO2 Flames [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Premixed CH[subscript 4]/O[subscript 2]/CO[subscript 2] flames (oxy-flames) and CH[subscript 4]/air flames (air-flames) were experimentally studied in a swirl-stabilized combustor.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Optimally squeezed spin states [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
We consider optimally spin-squeezed states that maximize the sensitivity of the Ramsey spectroscopy, and for which the signal to noise ratio scales as the number of particles $N$.
