T-Count Optimization and Reed–Muller Codes [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 2016
In this paper, we study the close relationship between Reed–Muller codes and single-qubit phase gates from the perspective of $T$ -count optimization. We prove that minimizing the number of $T$ gates in an $n$ -qubit quantum circuit over CNOT and $T$

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Development of International Classification of Diseases crosswalks using text analysis methods.

open access: yesInternational Journal of Population Data Science
Objective To evaluate the performance of a natural language processing (NLP) method to develop an automated crosswalk between the 9th and 10th revisions of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD) for diagnosis codes in the Charlson ...

Cyclic Low-Density MDS Array Codes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We construct two infinite families of low density MDS array codes which are also cyclic. One of these families includes the first such sub-family with redundancy parameter r > 2.

On self-dual MRD codes

open access: yes, 2015
We determine the automorphism group of Gabidulin codes of full length and characterise when these codes are equivalent to self-dual codes.Comment: Improved exposition according to the referees ...

On linear equivalence and Phelps codes. Addendum

open access: yesAdvances in Mathematics of Communications, 2011
A new class of perfect 1-error correcting binary codes, so called RRH-codes, are identified, and it is shown that every such code is linearly equivalent to a perfect code obtainable by the Phelps construction.

Long‐Term Follow‐Up of Chemotherapy‐Associated Biological Aging in Women With Early Breast Cancer

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Women threated with adjuvant chemotherapy for early breast cancer have sustained long‐term increase in p16INK4a,, a robust marker of cell senescence, suggesting a chemotherapy‐associated age acceleration. p16INK4a as well as other biomarkers may identify patients at greatest risk for senescence‐related diseases of aging.

Orthogonality for Quantum Latin Isometry Squares [PDF]

open access: yesElectronic Proceedings in Theoretical Computer Science, 2019
Goyeneche et al recently proposed a notion of orthogonality for quantum Latin squares, and showed that orthogonal quantum Latin squares yield quantum codes.

Code diversity in multiple antenna wireless communication

open access: yes, 2008
The standard approach to the design of individual space-time codes is based on optimizing diversity and coding gains. This geometric approach leads to remarkable examples, such as perfect space-time block codes, for which the complexity of Maximum ...
