Structural studies and functional engineering of NanX: an anhydro‐sialic acid transporter from Escherichia coli

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Biophysical characterisation shows that NanX, a membrane transport protein from the major facilitator superfamily (MFS), forms both monomers and dimers after purification. AlphaFold modelling and substrate docking provide information on residues likely involved in substrate recognition for NanX and another MFS member, NanT.

Optimized Construction of Reed-Solomon Coded Cooperative MIMO System Based on Network Coding [PDF]

open access: yesRadioengineering
To significantly enhance the reliability and spectral efficiency of small data block transmission, this paper presents a novel network-coding-based Reed-Solomon coded cooperative multiple-input multiple-output (NC-RSCC-MIMO) system.

Purification and preparation of Marchantia polymorpha Auxin Response Factor 2 for phase separation studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe detailed protocols for the purification and preparation of Marchantia polymorpha Auxin Response Factor 2 (MpARF2). This protein is fused to an MBP solubility tag and an mNG fluorescent tag and is purified from Escherichia coli. The presented procedures make it possible to study MpARF2 assemblies, which could arise from phase separation ...

EQUIVALENT AND NON-EQUIVALENT NAMES OF MEDICAL HERBAL PLANTS IN KAZAKH AND RUSSIAN LANGUAGES

open access: yesPolylinguality and Transcultural Practices, 2016
The article is devoted to a comparative study of medical herbal plants names in the Kazakh and Russian languages. Our purpose - to establish the main modes of transmission and conservation of meanings in case of switching interlanguage codes.

Direct Construction of Optimal Rotational-XOR Diffusion Primitives

open access: yesIACR Transactions on Symmetric Cryptology, 2017
As a core component of SPN block cipher and hash function, diffusion layer is mainly introduced by matrices built from maximum distance separable (MDS) codes.

Dual native G‐quadruplex folding is associated with chromatin looping at the MYC locus

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
BG4‐detectable G‐quadruplex (G4) in HaCaT and NHEK keratinocytes identified folded and unfolded G4s enriched at promoters/TSSs and active enhancers, whereas unfolded G4s also overlapped weak/poised enhancers. At MYC–PVT1, 3C‐qPCR detected enhancer–promoter looping only when G4s were simultaneously folded at both regulatory elements under native ...

Extracting Topological Orders of Generalized Pauli Stabilizer Codes in Two Dimensions

open access: yesPRX Quantum
In this paper, we introduce an algorithm for extracting topological data from translation invariant generalized Pauli stabilizer codes in two-dimensional systems, focusing on the analysis of anyon excitations and string operators.

Heterotropic regulation and negative homotropic cooperativity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We identified a structural module common to some proteins that couple negative cooperativity with heterotropic regulation, two features that rarely coexist. These proteins are ring‐like and present an ordered asymmetry whereby noncontacting subunits are symmetric, and their tertiary structure differs from that of contacting subunits.

Aquatorialities of the Arctic Region – A Systems Theoretical Analysis of Risks

open access: yesNordicum-Mediterraneum, 2013
In order to describe the Arctic system I propose using a concept functionally equivalent to territoriality, namely aquatoriality. Whether communicating about territoriality or aquatoriality, concepts and delimitations are both contingent to forms of ...

On the equivalence of codes and codes with an automorphism having two cycles

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics, 1990
This paper presents results giving sufficient conditions under which two codes are equivalent. This technique has been applied to certain binary quasicyclic codes. Self-dual codes of length 2r or \(2r+2\) over arbitrary fields having an automorphism of prime order r have also been examined. This study has further been used to construct and to count the
