TMEFF2 modulates the AKT and ERK signaling pathways.

open access: yesInternational journal of biochemistry and molecular biology, 2013
The transmembrane protein with epidermal growth factor (EGF) and two follistatin (FS) motifs 2 (TMEFF2) has a limited tissue distribution with strong expression only in brain and prostate. While TMEFF2 is overexpressed in prostate cancer indicating an oncogenic role, several studies indicate a tumor suppressor role for this protein.

Treadmill training improves lung function and inhibits alveolar cell apoptosis in spinal cord injured rats

open access: yesScientific Reports
Secondary lung injury after SCI is a major cause of patient mortality, with apoptosis playing a key role. This study aimed to explore the impact of treadmill training and miR145-5p on the MAPK/Erk signaling pathway and apoptosis in rats with complete SCI.

Role of insulin signaling dysregulation in pulmonary vascular remodeling in rats with monocrotaline-induced pulmonary arterial hypertension

open access: yesFrontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine
BackgroundPulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a severe disease marked by the remodeling of arteries due to the abnormal growth of vascular cells, including pulmonary arterial smooth muscle cells (PASMCs).

KIF15 promotes bladder cancer proliferation via the MEK-ERK signaling pathway.

open access: yesCancer management and research, 2019
Bladder cancer (BC) is the most common cancer of the urinary tract and invariably predicts a poor prognosis. In this study, we found a reliable gene signature and potential biomarker for predicting clinical prognosis. The gene expression profiles were obtained from the GEO database.

Tumor promoter TPA activates Wnt/β-catenin signaling in a casein kinase 1-dependent manner. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The tumor promoter 12-O-tetra-decanoylphorbol-13-acetate (TPA) has been defined by its ability to promote tumorigenesis on carcinogen-initiated mouse skin.
