Effective Analysis of Interactive Effects with Non-Normal Data Using the Aligned Rank Transform, ARTool and SAS® University Edition

open access: yesHorticulturae, 2019
Most statistical techniques commonly used in horticultural research are parametric tests that are valid only for normal data with homogeneous variances.

No-Go Theorems for Quantum Resource Purification: New Approach and Channel Theory

open access: yesPRX Quantum, 2022
It has been recently shown that there exist universal fundamental limits to the accuracy and efficiency of the transformation from noisy resource states to pure ones (e.g., distillation) in any well-behaved quantum resource theory [Fang and Liu, Phys ...

CONTROLLING WATER LEVEL BY USING MODIFIED MODEL FREE ADAPTIVE CONTROLLER

open access: yesJournal of Engineering and Sustainable Development, 2023
This paper investigates a simple mathematical model for a water level system, which consists of a DC motor (water pump), and a Speed to Height transformation block, that relates the speed of the motor, to the height of the water level.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Relative binding free energy calculations with transformato: A molecular dynamics engine-independent tool

open access: yesFrontiers in Molecular Biosciences, 2022
We present the software package transformato for the setup of large-scale relative binding free energy calculations. Transformato is written in Python as an open source project (https://github.com/wiederm/transformato); in contrast to comparable tools ...

Odd but Error-Free FastTwoSum: More General Conditions for FastTwoSum as an Error-Free Transformation for Faithful Rounding Modes

open access: yesCoRR
This paper proposes sufficient, yet more general conditions for applying FastTwoSum as an error-free transformation (EFT) under all faithful rounding modes. Additionally, it also identifies guarantees tailored to round-to-odd for establishing FastTwoSum as an EFT. This paper also describes a floating-point splitting tailored for round-to-odd that is an

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Digital Code-Division Multiplexing Channel Aggregation for Mobile Fronthaul Architecture With Low Complexity

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2018
A low-complexity mobile fronthaul architecture via digital code-division multiplexing (CDM) is proposed to enable channel aggregation of 4G-LTE signals.
