Digital Code-Division Multiplexing Channel Aggregation for Mobile Fronthaul Architecture With Low Complexity

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2018
A low-complexity mobile fronthaul architecture via digital code-division multiplexing (CDM) is proposed to enable channel aggregation of 4G-LTE signals.

An Improved Taylor Algorithm for Computing the Matrix Logarithm

open access: yesMathematics, 2021
The most popular method for computing the matrix logarithm is a combination of the inverse scaling and squaring method in conjunction with a Padé approximation, sometimes accompanied by the Schur decomposition.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Optimal Multi-Step-Ahead Prediction of ARCH/GARCH Models and NoVaS Transformation

open access: yesEconometrics, 2019
This paper gives a computer-intensive approach to multi-step-ahead prediction of volatility in financial returns series under an ARCH/GARCH model and also under a model-free setting, namely employing the NoVaS transformation.

FAST PAIRWISE COARSE REGISTRATION BETWEEN POINT CLOUDS OF CONSTRUCTION SITES USING 2D PROJECTION BASED PHASE CORRELATION [PDF]

open access: yesThe International Archives of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences, 2019
For conducting change detection using 3D scans of a construction site, the registration between point clouds at different acquisition times is normally necessary.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Multi-group global tests for restricted mean survival time and restricted mean time lost: a variable transformation approach

open access: yesBMC Medical Research Methodology
Background Restricted mean survival time (RMST) quantifies survival benefits in single-endpoint analysis, while restricted mean time lost (RMTL) measures event-related time loss in competing risks settings.

Mesh-free SPH modelling of sediment scouring and flushing considering grains transport and transformation

open access: yesEngineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics
Sediment scour numerical simulation plays a critical role in the design of water-resistant foundation engineering, and this paper addresses a significant gap in most related studies, which often overlook the transformation of sediment and struggle to ...

Error‐free computation of 8‐point discrete cosine transform based on the Loeffler factorisation and algebraic integers

open access: yesIET Signal Processing, 2016
An 8‐point discrete cosine transform (DCT) fast algorithm based on the Loeffler DCT factorisation and algebraic integer (AI) representation is proposed. The proposed algorithm is an error‐free implementation of the Loeffler algorithm and it is capable of computing the 8‐point DCT multiplierlessly. Decoding architectures are also proposed for mapping AI

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.
