The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Evaluation of error bound for a DT sliding mode control with disturbance observer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
In this paper an estimate of the upper bound of control error for discrete-time implementation of a Sliding Mode Control (DTSMC) combined with disturbance observer is investigated. Having in mind application to PZT high bandwidth actuators and since high

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Error Bound of Periodic Signals in the Hölder Metric

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2008
We obtain two theorems to determine the error bound between input periodic signals and processed output signals, whenever signals belong to 𝐻𝜔-space and as a processor we have taken (𝐶,1)(𝐸,1)-mean and generalized an early result of Lal and Yadav in ...

β‐TrCP overexpression enhances cisplatin sensitivity by depleting BRCA1

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low levels of β‐TrCP (Panel A) allow the accumulation of BRCA1 and CtIP, which facilitate the repair of cisplatin‐induced DNA damage via homologous recombination (HR) and promote tumor cell survival. In contrast, high β‐TrCP expression (Panel B) leads to BRCA1 and CtIP degradation, impairing HR repair, resulting in persistent DNA damage and apoptosis ...

Error Bound for Non-Zero Initial Condition Using the Singular Perturbation Approximation Method

open access: yesMathematics, 2018
In this article, we present up to date results on the balanced model reduction techniques for linear control systems, in particular the singular perturbation approximation. One of the most important features of this method is it allows for an a priori

Investigating the cell of origin and novel molecular targets in Merkel cell carcinoma: a historic misnomer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell

A tau-Gegenbauer spectral approach for systems of fractional integro-differential equations with the error analysis

open access: yesAIMS Mathematics
This research paper focused on the solution of systems of fractional integro-differential equations (FIDEs) of the Volterra type with variable coefficients. The proposed approach combined the tau method and shifted Gegenbauer polynomials in a matrix form.

YAP1::TFE3 mediates endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal plasticity in epithelioid hemangioendothelioma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The YAP1::TFE3 fusion protein drives endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EndMT) plasticity, resulting in the loss of endothelial characteristics and gain of mesenchymal‐like properties, including resistance to anoikis, increased migratory capacity, and loss of contact growth inhibition in endothelial cells.

Emerging role of ARHGAP29 in melanoma cell phenotype switching

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study gives first insights into the role of ARHGAP29 in malignant melanoma. ARHGAP29 was revealed to be connected to tumor cell plasticity, promoting a mesenchymal‐like, invasive phenotype and driving tumor progression. Further, it modulates cell spreading by influencing RhoA/ROCK signaling and affects SMAD2 activity. Rho GTPase‐activating protein
