Investigating the cell of origin and novel molecular targets in Merkel cell carcinoma: a historic misnomer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell

Numerical methods for singularly perturbed elliptic problems containing two perturbation parameters

open access: yesMathematical Modelling and Analysis, 2006
A priori parameter explicit bounds on the derivatives of the solution of a two parameter singularly perturbed elliptic problem in two space dimensions are presented. These bounds are used to establish parameter uniform error bounds for a numerical method

YAP1::TFE3 mediates endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal plasticity in epithelioid hemangioendothelioma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The YAP1::TFE3 fusion protein drives endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EndMT) plasticity, resulting in the loss of endothelial characteristics and gain of mesenchymal‐like properties, including resistance to anoikis, increased migratory capacity, and loss of contact growth inhibition in endothelial cells.

Optimal Stable Approximation for the Cauchy Problem for Laplace Equation

open access: yesAdvances in Mathematical Physics, 2016
Cauchy problem for Laplace equation in a strip is considered. The optimal error bounds between the exact solution and its regularized approximation are given, which depend on the noise level either in a Hölder continuous way or in a logarithmic ...

New error bounds for linear complementarity problems of weakly chained diagonally dominant B-matrices

open access: yesOpen Mathematics, 2017
Some new error bounds for the linear complementarity problems are obtained when the involved matrices are weakly chained diagonally dominant B-matrices. Numerical examples are given to show the effectiveness of the proposed bounds.

Finite-length Analysis on Tail probability for Markov Chain and Application to Simple Hypothesis Testing

open access: yes, 2015
Using terminologies of information geometry, we derive upper and lower bounds of the tail probability of the sample mean. Employing these bounds, we obtain upper and lower bounds of the minimum error probability of the 2nd kind of error under the ...

Emerging role of ARHGAP29 in melanoma cell phenotype switching

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study gives first insights into the role of ARHGAP29 in malignant melanoma. ARHGAP29 was revealed to be connected to tumor cell plasticity, promoting a mesenchymal‐like, invasive phenotype and driving tumor progression. Further, it modulates cell spreading by influencing RhoA/ROCK signaling and affects SMAD2 activity. Rho GTPase‐activating protein

Two New Families of Local Asymptotically Minimax Lower Bounds in Parameter Estimation

open access: yesEntropy
We propose two families of asymptotically local minimax lower bounds on parameter estimation performance. The first family of bounds applies to any convex, symmetric loss function that depends solely on the difference between the estimate and the true ...

Direct Analysis of Zero-Noise Extrapolation: Polynomial Methods, Error Bounds, and Simultaneous Physical-Algorithmic Error Mitigation [PDF]

open access: yesQuantum
Zero-noise extrapolation (ZNE) is a widely used quantum error mitigation technique that artificially amplifies circuit noise and then extrapolates the results to the noise-free circuit.

Perturbation of error bounds

open access: yesMathematical Programming, 2017
Our aim in the current article is to extend the developments in Kruger, Ngai & Th ra, SIAM J. Optim. 20(6), 3280-3296 (2010) and, more precisely, to characterize, in the Banach space setting, the stability of the local and global error bound property of inequalities determined by proper lower semicontinuous under data perturbations. We propose new
