Numerical method for a Cauchy problem for multi-dimensional Helmholtz equation

open access: yesApplied Mathematics in Science and Engineering
The main focus of this research is to address the Cauchy problem of the multi-dimensional Helmholtz equation with mixed boundary conditions. This problem is known to be ill-posed according to Hadamard's definition.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

The POD-based reduced-dimension study on the two-grid finite element method for the nonlinear time-fractional wave equation

open access: yesAIMS Mathematics
The main purpose of this paper was to study the reduced-dimension of unknown classical two-grid finite element (CTGFE) solution coefficient vectors for the nonlinear time-fractional wave (NTFW) equation by using proper orthogonal decomposition (POD). For

Experimental determination of position-estimate accuracy using back-azimuth signals from a microwave landing system [PDF]

open access: yes
Flight tests using the Boeing 737 airplane to obtain position estimates with back azimuth signals from a microwave landing system (MLS) are discussed. The equations and logic used to generate a navigation position estimate in the MLS back azimuth signal ...

β‐TrCP overexpression enhances cisplatin sensitivity by depleting BRCA1

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low levels of β‐TrCP (Panel A) allow the accumulation of BRCA1 and CtIP, which facilitate the repair of cisplatin‐induced DNA damage via homologous recombination (HR) and promote tumor cell survival. In contrast, high β‐TrCP expression (Panel B) leads to BRCA1 and CtIP degradation, impairing HR repair, resulting in persistent DNA damage and apoptosis ...

Superconvergence of Mixed Finite Element Method with Bernstein Polynomials for Stokes Problem

open access: yesAxioms
In this paper, we employ interpolation and projection methodologies to establish a superconvergence outcome for the Stokes problem, as approximated by the mixed finite element method (FEM) utilizing Bernstein polynomial basis functions.

Error estimation for quadrature formulas based on equally spaced nodes

open access: yesMathematical Modelling and Analysis, 2006
The error estimation for quadrature formulas based on equally spaced nodes is discussed in this paper. The error estimates use embedded formulas and they are obtained for Newton‐Cotes and Hermitian quadrature formulas.

Variance estimation for the instrumental variables approach to measurement error in generalized linear models [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper derives and gives explicit formulas for a derived sandwich variance estimate. This variance estimate is appropriate for generalized linear additive measurement error models fitted using instrumental variables.
