Error resiliency measure for RVLC codes
IEEE Signal Processing Letters, 2006Video signals transmitted over error-prone wireless channels are often corrupted by bit errors. Due to their superior data recovery performance, the reversible variable length coding (RVLC) has been used as an error resiliency scheme in the MPEG-4 and H.263 video coding standards.

Enhancements to the error resilient entropy code
1998 IEEE Second Workshop on Multimedia Signal Processing (Cat. No.98EX175), 2002The error resilient entropy code (EREC) has been well known for some time. It is a method of encoding the overall prefix codes which result from many forms of image compression algorithm such that they are largely independent of each other. Any error introduced into the data, for example during transmission over a radio link, will thus only affect a ...

Error resilient lossless image coding
Proceedings 1999 International Conference on Image Processing (Cat. 99CH36348), 2003We present an image compression scheme that is error resilient and offers lossless decompression in the absence of channel noise. Attempts are made to detect transmission errors and data found to be in error is discarded so as not to pollute the decompressed output.

Error-Resilient LZW Data Compression
Data Compression Conference (DCC'06), 2006Lossless data compression systems are typically regarded as very brittle to transmission errors. This limits their applicability to domains like noisy tetherless channels or file systems that can possibly get corrupted. Here we show how a popular lossless data compression scheme used in file formats GIF, PDF, and TIFF, among others, can be made error ...

An error resilient coding technique for JPEG2000
Proceedings 2000 International Conference on Image Processing (Cat. No.00CH37101), 2002We introduce a mixed fixed-length coding (FLC) and variable-length coding (VLC) technique to improve the error resilience of the upcoming JPEG2000 image coding standard. Our proposed method operates on quantized subband coefficients, and produces a bit-stream with both FLC and VLC codewords.

Error resilient coding of 3D meshes
Proceedings 2003 International Conference on Image Processing (Cat. No.03CH37429), 2004Compressed bit streams of 3D mesh data are highly vulnerable to transmission errors due to predictive coding and entropy coding. In this work, we propose an error resilient and progressive coding scheme for 3D meshes. To make a compressed bit stream robust to transmission errors, 3D mesh data is partitioned into several segments, which are then encoded

Error resilient video coding techniques
IEEE Signal Processing Magazine, 2000We review error resilience techniques for real-time video transport over unreliable networks. Topics covered include an introduction to today's protocol and network environments and their characteristics, encoder error resilience tools, decoder error concealment techniques, as well as techniques that require cooperation between encoder, decoder, and ...

Error-resilient transmission of 3D models
ACM Transactions on Graphics, 2005In this article, we propose an error-resilient transmission method for progressively compressed 3D models. The proposed method is scalable with respect to both channel bandwidth and channel packet-loss rate. We jointly design source and channel coders using a statistical measure that (i) calculates the number of both source and channel ...

An error-resilient blocksorting compression algorithm
Data Compression Conference, 2003. Proceedings. DCC 2003, 2003Summary form only given. The error susceptibility in the compressed bit stream is considered as a key limitation of adaptive lossless compression systems. The inherent design of these systems often requires that they discard all data subsequent to the error.

Error-Resilient Motion Estimation Architecture
IEEE Transactions on Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) Systems, 2008In this paper, we propose an energy-efficient motion estimation architecture. The proposed architecture employs the principle of error-resiliency to combat logic level timing errors that may arise in average-case designs in presence of process variations and/or due to overscaling of the supply voltage [voltage overscaling (VOS)] and thereby achieves ...
