The Error of Determination of the Erythrocyte Count

American Journal of Clinical Pathology, 1936
In a previous study we made an examination of certain errors inherent in the enumeration of erythrocytes as made by the standard methods used in clinical laboratories. That study consisted in a statistical analysis of the variability of enumerations made in such a way that the personal error of the enumerator was eliminated.

Erythrocyte count and hemoglobin levels in diabetic women

European Journal of Applied Physiology and Occupational Physiology, 1984
Fasting blood glucose, erythrocyte counts hemoglobin levels of 131 Libyan diabetic women of Tripoli , Libya were determined. The respective mean values were 223 +/- 7 mg X dl-1, 4.97 +/- 0.034 X 10(6) X mm-3 and 14.4 +/- 0.127 g X dl-1. Sixty-five percent of these diabetic women were obese. The highest percent of diabetics belong to the age group 46-55

Relationship between Electrophoretic Mobility of Erythrocytes and Blood Erythrocyte Count in Rats

Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 2005
A significant curvilinear relationship was found between erythrocyte count in rat blood and electrokinetic characteristics of these cells. Electrophoretic mobility of erythrocytes remained unchanged, slightly increased, or decreased with increasing cell count in the vascular bed depending on animal state.

"THE ACCURACY OF ERYTHROCYTE COUNTS"

JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1927
To the Editor: —The conclusions expressed in the editorial comment on "The Accuracy of Erythrocyte Counts" (The Journal, August 6, p. 454) are undoubtedly correct. The author draws attention to two classes of variables which necessitate the use of a "plus-minus" norm in the interpretation of erythrocyte counts, both of which demonstrate the fallacy ...

Seasonal leukocyte and erythrocyte counts in fathead minnows

Journal of Fish Biology, 1999
Leukocyte and erythrocyte counts on normal fathead minnows Pimephales promelas showed a marked seasonal trend. In a period from June to March, a three‐fold increase in leukocytes was seen during August and September.

STUDIES OF TOTAL ERYTHROCYTE AND LEUCOCYTE COUNTS OF FOWLS: IV. ERYTHROCYTE AND LEUCOCYTE COUNTS OF BIRDS RAISED IN CONFINEMENT

Canadian Journal of Research, 1935
Erythrocyte and leucocyte counts were made of 65 S.C White Leghorn females and 50 S.C. White Leghorn males which were raised in confinement from the age of one day until sexual maturity. The mean erythrocyte count of the males was significantly higher than the mean of the females. There was no significant difference between the mean leucocyte counts of

Tangent counting for objective assessment of erythrocyte shape changes

Biorheology, 1985
The resting shape of the human erythrocyte is maintained mainly by the elastic properties of its membrane. There is evidence that negative spontaneous membrane curvature is the cause of the biconcave shape; also negative membrane curvature is thought to be enhanced under "stomatocytogenic" influences and reduced under "echinocytogenic" influences ...

Relationship between erythrocyte count and volume in humans and rats

Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 2000
The mean corpuscular volume and concentration of blood erythrocytes in intact male rats are inversely related in the entire fluctuations range. In healthy men and women the correlation between these parameters is described by a parabola with alternating zones of positive and negative relationships.

Erythrocyte counts with the instrument compur M-100 tends to let you down in the very cases in which erythrocyte counts would be most useful [PDF]

open access: possibleBlut, 1978
The great companies Bayer and Zeiss have over the years built up a reputation for high quality chemical products, drugs and instruments. When their sattelite firm Compur-Electrcnic recently started marketing a compact, portable instrument Compur M-1CC0 miniphotometer f•r measuring hemoglobin and erythrocytes, one quite naturally would expect a high ...

Erythrocyte Volume and Count: A Linear Relation Descriptive of Population Differences

Scandinavian Journal of Haematology, 1979
In a sample of 215 adult males the mean red cell volume decreases linearly with increasing red cell concentration. The mean corpuscular volume and the red cell count are found uncorrelated with age of subject. Of these subjects 69 are identified as smokers and 114 as nonsmokers.
