Participation of reactive oxygen species in regulation of Са2+ - activated К + channels of erythrocytes

open access: yesБюллетень сибирской медицины, 2009
In this study, we investigated the effects of preincubation with the reactive oxygen species-generating system xanthine oxidase/xanthine on Ca2+-dependent potassium permeability of erythrocyte membrane. The increase of intracellular calcium concentration

Atomic force microscopy of erythrocytes of patients with different severity of pancreatitis

open access: yesСибирский научный медицинский журнал, 2023
Aim of the study was to prove the possibility of using red blood cell probe microscopy as a predictor of the development of pancreonecrosis.Material and methods. Atomic force microscopy was performed in 143 people (82 were male and 61 were female).

Multiscale simulation of erythrocyte membranes [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2010
To quantitatively predict the mechanical response and mechanically induced remodeling of red blood cells, we developed a multiscale method to correlate distributions of internal stress with overall cell deformation. This method consists of three models at different length scales: in the complete cell level the membrane is modeled as two distinct layers

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Assembly of Protein 4.1 during Chicken Erythroid Differentiation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
Protein 4.1 is a peripheral membrane protein that strengthens the actin-spectrin based membrane skeleton of the red blood cell and also serves to attach this structure to the plasma membrane. In avian erythrocytes it exists as a family of closely related

Tropomyosin modulates erythrocyte membrane stability

open access: yesBlood, 2006
AbstractThe ternary complex of spectrin, actin, and 4.1R (human erythrocyte protein 4.1) defines the nodes of the erythrocyte membrane skeletal network and is inseparable from membrane stability under mechanical stress. These junctions also contain tropomyosin (TM) and the other actin-binding proteins, adducin, protein 4.9, tropomodulin, and a small ...

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Tuning of Differential Lipid Order Between Submicrometric Domains and Surrounding Membrane Upon Erythrocyte Reshaping

open access: yesCellular Physiology and Biochemistry, 2018
Background/Aims: Transient nanometric cholesterol- and sphingolipid-enriched domains, called rafts, are characterized by higher lipid order as compared to surrounding lipids.

Effect of Antioxidant Preparation «Mexidol» on the Protein Components of the Erythrocyte Cytoplasmic Membrane in Patients with Ulcerative Colitis

open access: yesActa Biomedica Scientifica, 2020
Background. Ulcerative colitis is a colon disease accompanied by a systemic inflammatory response with the development of oxidative stress, which leads to structural and functional changes in cell membranes.
