Dual‐Layer Living Hydrogel Enables On‐Demand Delivery of Phages and Probiotics for Synergistic Wound Infection Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A dual‐layer living hydrogel, ProΦGel, integrates bacteriophages and probiotics for synergistic wound infection therapy. The outer gelatin‐based matrix releases phages on demand in response to P. aeruginosa infections, while inner alginate beads sustain probiotic delivery.

Drug‐Free Thrombolysis Mediated by Physically Activated Micro/Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Overview of particle‐mediated thrombolytic effects (thermal, mechanical, and chemical) and their activating physical stimuli (light, ultrasound, and magnetic field) in drug‐free thrombolysis. ABSTRACT Thrombus‐associated disorders rank among the world's leading causes of death, with ischemic heart disease and stroke as the main contributors.

The Mechanical Properties of Erythrocytes Are Influenced by the Conformational State of Albumin

open access: yesCells
The mechanical stability and deformability of erythrocytes are vital for their function as they traverse capillaries, where shear stress can reach up to 10 Pa under physiological conditions. Human serum albumin (HSA) is known to help maintain erythrocyte

Plasmodium falciparum erythrocyte membrane protein 1

open access: yesWikiJournal of Medicine, 2017
Plasmodium falciparum erythrocyte membrane protein 1 (PfEMP1) is a family of proteins present on the membrane surface of red blood cells (RBCs or erythrocytes) that are infected by the malarial parasite Plasmodium falciparum. PfEMP1 is synthesized during

Metallofullerenol Sc3N@C80(OH)18: A New Generation Radioprotector Protecting Human Erythrocytes Against Multiple Biochemical Damage Modes Upon Gamma Irradiation, Identifying It as a Scavenger of Short‐ and Long‐Lived Radicals

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Metallofullerenol Sc3N@C80(OH)18 demonstrates strong radioprotective properties as a scavenger of both short‐ and long‐lived radicals. The study reveals protection of human erythrocytes from γ‐radiation–induced biochemical damage via post‐irradiation removal of primary and secondary reactive oxidants, supported by pulse radiolysis kinetics.

The Distribution of Complement Proteins in Soft and Hard Coronas Impacts Macrophage Uptake of Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Protein corona plays a critical role in the biological behavior of nanoparticles. This study investigates the distribution of complement proteins in soft corona and their impact on the macrophage uptake of polymer nanoparticles. It underlines the significance of soft corona investigation for understanding in vivo performance of nanomedicines.

Evaluation of In Vitro Anti-inflammatory Activity of Azomethines of Aryl Oxazoles

open access: yesE-Journal of Chemistry, 2011
Ability to inhibit erythrocyte hemolysis is often used as a characteristic of the membrane stabilising action of chemical compounds. Azomethines of aryl oxazoles were evaluated for anti-inflammatory by in vitro hemolytic membrane stabilising study.
