In order to contribute to the fight against the antibiotic resistance crisis, we used a dual‐activity prospection strategy for natural product mixtures with antibiotic resistance modulating and antibacterial activities in the essential oils (EOs) of Artemisia ludoviciana, Lippia graveolens and Cosmos bipinnatus against multidrug resistant strains of ...

The antifungal behavior of artificial palmitoylated or cholesterylated chitinase domain is studied from biological, chemical, and physical properties, highlighting the importance of the chemical properties of the lipid moiety covalently attached to chitinase domain to obtain effective antifungal activity by artificial protein lipidation through a ...

Lienhwalides: Unique Tropolone–Maleidride Hybrids from Hypoxylon lienhwacheense
Lienhwalides are novel tropolone–maleidride hybrid molecules unique in nature. Absolute configuration is solved by semisynthetic approaches and X‐ray analysis. Interplay between both lwt and lwm biosynthetic gene clusters is responsible for the production of lienhwalides.

SAAP‐148 oligomerizes into a hexamer forming a hydrophobic inner core
Human cathelicidin LL‐37 is a widely studied antimicrobial 37‐mer peptide with various ascribed functions, that serves as a template for designing novel peptides. Its derivative, the 24‐mer SAAP‐148, is highly effective in vitro in eradicating multidrug‐resistant bacteria, persistent cells, and biofilms, without inducing resistance.

Escherichia coli Infections [PDF]
Virulent strains of Escherichia coli are responsible for most diarrheal infections, meningitis, septicemia, and urinary tract infections in children worldwide. Clinicians must learn to recognize, treat, and prevent these infections. After completing this article, readers should be able to: 1. Describe the epidemiology of E coli infections. 2.

Unusual gas-forming infection with Escherichia coli
Injury, 1981Infections with non-clostridial gas-forming organisms are not often encountered in orthopaedic practice. We present here a case of gas-forming infection with Escherichia coli which occurred 10 months after internal fixation of a closed fracture of the femur in an 84-year-old diabetic woman who suffered from septic nephrolithiasis.

Experimental Escherichia coli and rotavirus infection in lambs
Research in Veterinary Science, 1981Colostrum-deprived lambs were infected with either enteropathogenic Escherichia coli(O9:K30:K99) or rotavirus or a mixture of the E coli and rotavirus. E coli doses of 10(6) and above consistently produced diarrhoea, as did experimental rotavirus infection.

Antitoxin Responses to Infections with Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli
Journal of Infectious Diseases, 1974Titers of antitoxin to the enterotoxins of Escherichia coli and Vibrio cholerae were determined in acute and convalescent sera from 23 patients with acute choleralike diarrhea in Calcutta, India; the adult rabbit ileal loop model was used for the titration of antitoxin. Six of eight patients harboring enterotoxigenic E.
