Integrated phytochemical and bioactivity profiling of Xanthium strumarium fruits from Korea and China: Implications for origin‐specific quality specification

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract BACKGROUND Geographic origin influences the phytochemical composition and biological activities of medicinal plant resources. Xanthium strumarium L. (XS) fruit is widely used in East Asian traditional medicine. However, current pharmacopeial standards primarily recognize Chinese‐derived material, despite the availability and traditional use of

Two‐Dimensional Materials For Lateral Flow Assays: A Critical Review of Functional Roles and Translational Challenges

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
2D nanosheets, with large surface area, excellent optical/electrical properties, and high specificity, combine with lateral flow assay strips to enable rapid, readable detection, boosting the strips’ development and applications. Abstract Lateral flow assays (LFAs) are widely used for point‐of‐care diagnostics, but their detection capability remains ...

The Oral‐Gut Axis: Bidirectional Interactions Between Microbiome and Diseases

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
This study aims to summarize the mechanisms underlying ectopic colonization of the gut by oral pathobionts and the microbial and host factors that regulate this process. ABSTRACT Increased colonization of typically oral microorganisms is frequently observed in the gut mucosa or lumen of individuals with gastrointestinal disorders, including patients ...

Full‐length coding sequence analysis of the voltage‐gated sodium channel and acetylcholinesterase genes reveals target‐site mutations and acetylcholinesterase gene duplication in housefly (Musca domestica) populations in Japanese livestock barns

open access: yesMedical and Veterinary Entomology, EarlyView.
We simultaneously analysed insecticide resistance mutations in VGSC and AChE using NGS and hybridization probe capture in houseflies collected from livestock facilities for the first time. Resistance mutations in both VGSC and AChE were detected in most wild populations, suggesting widespread distribution of resistance genes.

Multilocus-based phylogenetic analysis of extended-spectrum beta-lactamase Escherichia coli O157:H7 uncovers related strains between agriculture and nearby water sources

open access: yesJournal of Infection and Public Health, 2020
This study aimed to uncover related strains of extended-spectrum beta-lactamase Escherichia coli O157:H7 between agricultural matrices (soil, manure and irrigation water) and nearby water sources using multilocus-based phylogenetic analysis.

Multiplex PCR to Diagnose Gastrointestinal Infections: Key Limitations in Interpretation

open access: yesUnited European Gastroenterology Journal, Volume 14, Issue 7, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) panels are increasingly used for the evaluation of acute diarrhea, providing rapid and sensitive detection of a broad range of enteric pathogens. However, their widespread adoption has created important interpretive challenges for clinicians.

Prevalence of Mastitis in Cows and Raw Milk Microbial Contamination in Selected Districts, Tanzania

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 5, September 2026.
Cow milk produced in Tanzania suffers from poor quality due to bacterial contamination from mastitis udder predisposed by poor livestock husbandry and milk hygienic practices. The prevalence of mastitis was 75.6%, with a milk bacterial contamination rate of 78% and resistance to multiple antimicrobials. To safeguard the dairy industry and public health,
