Lectotypifications and taxonomic changes in the holoparasitic Orobanchaceae
Based on further extensive studies of specimens in various herbaria, lectotypes are designated for many taxa of holoparasitic Orobanchaceae. In particular, 47 names in the genera Boschniakia (incl. Xylanche), Cistanche, Orobanche, Phelipanche and Phelypaea are lectotypified.

Development and characterization of EST‐SSR markers for Begonia luzhaiensis (Begoniaceae) [PDF]
Premise of the study:Microsatellite primers were developed for Begonia luzhaiensis (Begoniaceae) to assess genetic diversity and population genetic structure. Methods and Results:Based on the transcriptome data of B. luzhaiensis, 60 primer pairs were selected for initial validation, of which 16 yielded polymorphic microsatellite loci in 57 individuals ...

Root‐focused resistance in chicory reduces defenses in leaves, impairing root aphids but enhancing foliar aphid performance. Selecting root resistance can create unintended trade‐offs across plant organs. Abstract BACKGROUND Plants are constantly exposed to a wide range of herbivores at both aboveground (AG) and belowground (BG) levels, involving ...

Abstract The genus Kartalinia was described to accommodate a single, obscure species, Psoralea acaulis, based on its unique morphology and karyology. No concerted molecular phylogenetic studies were available for this species at the time, and therefore its phylogenetic position was uncertain.

Development and characterization of EST‐SSR markers for Catalpa bungei (Bignoniaceae)
Premise of the study:Catalpa bungei (Bignoniaceae) is a deciduous tree native to China. We developed microsatellite markers for C. bungei to investigate its population genetics. Methods and Results:One hundred seventy‐seven expressed sequence tag (EST)–simple sequence repeat (SSR) primer pairs were isolated and characterized using next‐generation ...

We synthesized GPS telemetry, genetic, and pathogen data to evaluate metapopulation processes in a reintroduced Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep (Ovis canadensis canadensis) population in Dinosaur National Monument. We estimated subpopulation‐specific abundances and found 4 small subpopulations with high genetic diversity, partial connectivity, and ...

Development of genomic and EST-SSR markers in radish (Raphanus sativus L.)
Radish (Raphanus sativus L.) belongs to Brassicaceae family and is a close relative of Brassica. This species shows a wide morphological diversity, and is an important vegetable especially in Asia. However, molecular research of radish is behind compared to that of Brassica. For example, reports on SSR (simple sequence repeat) markers are limited. Here,

Abstract The ascomycetous fungus Cryphonectria carpinicola is typically found in its asexual form on the European hornbeam, and its sexual state has only recently been discovered in deadwood of different Carpinus species in Japan. Recently, this fungus has been added to the EPPO Alert List due to its increasing incidence in the EPPO region and a ...
