Intraoral Drug Delivery: Bridging the Gap Between Academic Research and Industrial Innovations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Intraoral drug delivery offers a promising route for systemic and localized therapies, yet challenges such as enzymatic degradation, limited permeability, and microbial interactions hinder efficacy. This figure highlights innovative strategies—mucoadhesive materials, enzyme inhibitors, and permeation enhancers—to overcome these barriers.

Investigating the Potential for Label‐Free Detection of Cell Apoptosis through Terahertz Nano‐Metasurfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates a label‐free optical method to monitor cells using a terahertz metasurface‐based biosensing platform. The obtained terahertz signal change for the cell‐contained nanoslots before and after external stimulus is analyzed in terms of transmittance and frequency shift, dynamically representing the cell apoptosis process.

Conditional Activation of Protein Therapeutics by Templated Removal of Peptide Nucleic Acid Masking Groups

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A strategy for the conditional activation of therapeutic proteins utilizing removable peptide nucleic acid (PNA) masking groups is presented. Site‐specific installation of “Lock”‐PNAs containing a cleavage thioester linkage enabled steric blockage of receptor binding sites.

Leukocyte esterase strip test: matched for musculoskeletal infection society criteria.

open access: yesJournal of Bone and Joint Surgery. American volume, 2014
BACKGROUND The presence of leukocyte esterase in the synovial fluid has recently been proposed as a marker for periprosthetic joint infection. However, the sensitivity and specificity of leukocyte esterase has not been determined when matched for the ...

Development of Photo‐Biocatalytic Redox System for Asymmetric Synthesis of Optically Active Amines Using Blue Light and Transaminases. A Case Study Toward Mavacamten

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, EarlyView.
Abstract α‐Chiral amines are versatile building blocks for the asymmetric synthesis of optically pure high‐added‐value chemicals, including pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and natural products. Herein, we report a one‐pot, two‐step sequential deracemization of racemic sec‐alcohols to optically enriched primary amines throught a photo‐biocatalytic ...

Stability and detectability of testosterone esters in dried blood spots after intramuscular injections

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, Volume 14, Issue 11-12, Page 1926-1937, November-December 2022., 2022
We further developed the Dried Blood Spot (DBS) methodology for detection of four testosterone esters with focus on robustness and applicability in doping control. The study consisted of two parts: method development and validation, and a human administration study with intramuscular injections of 250 mg Sustanon® in healthy men.

Newly Identified Thermostable Esterase from Sulfobacillus acidophilus: Properties and Performance in Phthalate Ester Degradation

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Microbiology, 2014
EstS1, a newly identified thermostable esterase from Sulfobacillus acidophilus DSM10332, was heterologously expressed in Escherichia coli and shown to enzymatically degrade phthalate esters (PAEs) to their corresponding monoalkyl PAEs. The optimal pH and

Imaging Heterogeneous Patterns of Aminopeptidase N Activity in Hierarchical Tissue Structures Through High‐Resolution Whole‐Organ 3D Mapping

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Enzymes regulate physiological functions, and their abnormal activity is associated with diseases. Here, we present a method for high‐resolution 3D mapping of enzyme activity using tissue clearing and an activity‐based covalent probe. Focusing on aminopeptidase N, we developed ANA‐o‐BODIPY, which records enzyme activity via covalent labeling.

Advancing the Identification of Bioactive Molecules and the Construction of a Synergistic Drug Delivery System in Combating Lung Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), while holistic and historically esteemed, faces challenges in “miracle cures” due to slow onset, long cycles, and difficulty controlling quality. This study obtains the active ingredients, glabridin (GLA) and puerarin (PUE), from Ge‐Gen Decoction (GGD), developing a safe and effective drug delivery system, GLA‐PUE ...
