From Shear to Sound: Mechanics–Acoustics Mapping of TPMS Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) lattices are mapped across mechanical and acoustic performance, revealing that descriptors validated in compression fail under shear. First‐time comparison with trusses included. A transition from porous to resonance‐driven absorption emerges at 25% density.

On cubic polynomials I. Hua's estimate of exponential sums

open access: yesMonatshefte für Mathematik, 1982
Hua andChen gave estimates of sums\(\sum\limits_{x = 1}^q {e(\mathfrak{F}(x))} \) wheree(z)=e2πiz and\(\mathfrak{F}\) is a polynomial of the typef(x)/q wheref(x)=akxk+...+a1x with integer coefficients having gcd (q, ak,...,a1)=1 But no good estimates hold for these sums whenq is small in comparison tok.

Approximation by exponential sums revisited

open access: yes, 2010
We revisit the efficient approximation of functions by sums of exponentials or Gaussians in Beylkin and Monzón (2005) [16] to discuss several new results and applications of these approximations.

Designing Polymer Nanocomposites for X‐Ray Shielding: Mechanisms, Architectures, and Scalable Processing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights advances in lightweight, lead‐free polymer nanocomposites for diagnostic X‐ray shielding. By linking filler chemistry, dispersion, architecture, and photon interaction mechanisms, it establishes structure–performance relationships guiding material design.

Inverse Identification of Energy‐Dependent Laser Absorptivity in NiTi Laser Powder‐Bed Fusion via Calibrated Melt Pool Simulation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A combined experimental–computational framework identifies energy‐dependent laser absorptivity for NiTi in laser powder‐bed fusion, applicable to conduction and transition modes. Single‐track experiments and thermofluid smoothed particle hydrodynamics simulations are coupled through inverse analysis of melt pool geometry.

On Distribution of Exponential Sums in Fields of Characteristic Two

open access: yes, 2007
Distribution of the values of exponential sums in finite fields of characteristic two is considered. We derive upper bounds on the individual components of this distribution.

Affine extractors over large fields with exponential error

open access: yes, 2015
We describe a construction of explicit affine extractors over large finite fields with exponentially small error and linear output length. Our construction relies on a deep theorem of Deligne giving tight estimates for exponential sums over smooth ...

Machine Learning‐Supported Analysis for Predicting and Visualizing Nonlinear Relationships Between Material Properties in Electroplated Chromium Layers

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study applies machine learning regression to predict chromium layer thickness in decorative trivalent chromium electroplating, using 441 experiments from laboratory‐scale (1L) and pilot‐scale (14L) setups. Tree‐based models, particularly CatBoost, outperformed linear regression by capturing nonlinear parameter interactions (R2$R^2$ up to 0.77 ...
