Mateda-2.0: A MATLAB Package for the Implementation and Analysis of Estimation of Distribution Algorithms

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Software, 2010
This paper describes Mateda-2.0, a MATLAB package for estimation of distribution algorithms (EDAs). This package can be used to solve single and multi-objective discrete and continuous optimization problems using EDAs based on undirected and directed ...

An estimation of distribution algorithm for nurse scheduling [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of Operations Research, 2007
Schedules can be built in a similar way to a human scheduler by using a set of rules that involve domain knowledge. This paper presents an Estimation of Distribution Algorithm (eda) for the nurse scheduling problem, which involves choosing a suitable scheduling rule from a set for the assignment of each nurse.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

simplexreg: An R Package for Regression Analysis of Proportional Data Using the Simplex Distribution

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Software, 2016
Outcomes of continuous proportions arise in many applied areas. Such data are typically measured as percentages, rates or proportions confined in the unitary interval. In this paper, the R package simplexreg which provides dispersion model fitting of the

Maximum Likelihood Estimation of Triangular and Polygonal Distributions

open access: yes, 2016
Triangular distributions are a well-known class of distributions that are often used as elementary example of a probability model. In the past, enumeration and order statistic-based methods have been suggested for the maximum likelihood (ML) estimation ...

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Diffusion Robust Variable Step-Size LMS Algorithm Over Distributed Networks

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
In this paper, we propose a novel diffusion robust variable step-size least mean square (DRVSS-LMS) algorithm that is insensitive to impulsive noise for distributed estimation in the network.

RoundMi: A quantitative method to analyze mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
RoundMi is a workflow for rapid analysis of mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells. By combining adaptive preprocessing with automated segmentation and quantification, it enables accurate measurements from single focal plane images, reducing acquisition time and computational demands while remaining compatible with high‐throughput fixed and live ...

Association of Corticospinal Tract Asymmetry With Ambulatory Ability After Intracerebral Hemorrhage

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Ambulatory ability after intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is important to patients. We tested whether asymmetry between ipsi‐ and contra‐lesional corticospinal tracts (CSTs) assessed by diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) is associated with post‐ICH ambulation.

EA/G-GA for Single Machine Scheduling Problems with Earliness/Tardiness Costs

open access: yesEntropy, 2011
An Estimation of Distribution Algorithm (EDA), which depends on explicitly sampling mechanisms based on probabilistic models with information extracted from the parental solutions to generate new solutions, has constituted one of the major research areas
