Timing of Insemination for Dairy Cows Identified in Estrus by a Radiotelemetric Estrus Detection System

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 1998
The optimal time of artificial insemination (AI) was determined from data for 2661 AI in 17 herds utilizing a radiotelemetric system for estrus detection that has the potential for continuous 24-h surveillance to monitor behavioral events associated with estrus.

Luteinizing hormone receptor knockout mouse: What has it taught us?

open access: yesAndrology, EarlyView.
Abstract Luteinizing hormone (LH), along with its agonist choriongonadotropin (hCG) in humans, is the key hormone responsible for the tropic regulation of the gonadal function. LH and hCG act through their cognate receptor, the luteinizing hormone/choriongonadotropin receptor (LHCGR; more appropriately LHR in rodents lacking CG), located in the testis ...

The Influence of Selected Factors on Changes in Locomotion Activity during Estrus in Dairy Cows

open access: yesAnimals
The objective of this study was the evaluation of the locomotion activity of heifers and Holstein dairy cows during estrus. We have analyzed the locomotion activity using the Heatime RuminAct device on 180 cows (32 heifers and 148 dairy cows) and we ...

The aporetic dialogues of Modena on gender differences: Is it all about testosterone? Episode II: Empathy

open access: yesAndrology, EarlyView.
Abstract The exploration of gender differences in non‐andrological fields was the core focus of a series of discussions, which took place at the Endocrinology Unit in Modena, Italy in the form of the aporetic dialogue of ancient Greece. This second episode reports the transcript of the actual debate on testosterone's role in defining empathic behavior ...

Estrógeno exógeno no início do ciclo estral de vacas leiteiras na indução do estro e na dinâmica ovariana

open access: yesRevista Interdisciplinar de Direito, 2011
The objective of this work was to check the exogenous estrogen, in early phase of estrous cycle, on the range of estrus reduction and ovarian dynamics. Animals cycling regularly were selected, without any clinical or reproductive alterations were used in

Proteomic profiling of porcine seminal extracellular vesicles reveals potential in vivo fertility biomarkers

open access: yesAndrology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Predicting male fertility in farm animals remains a challenge. Seminal plasma (SP) contains a high amount of heterogeneous seminal extracellular vesicles (sEVs), believed involved in reproductive processes and maybe key to understanding male fertility.

Estrus Detection in Cattle

open access: yes
Proper detection of estrus is critical in dairy husbandry. Loss of profit due to extended calving intervals, milk loss, and veterinary costs are related to incorrect detection of estrus. Despite enormous progress in the knowledge of reproductive physiology and the development of estrous detection aids, detection of estrus remains a major problem.

Preclinical models for evaluating psychedelics in the treatment of major depressive disorder

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Psychedelic drugs have seen a resurgence in interest as a next generation of psychiatric medicines with potential as rapid‐acting antidepressants (RAADs). Despite promising early clinical trials, the mechanisms which underlie the effects of psychedelics are poorly understood.

Effect of constant light on parturition and postpartum reproduction in the rat [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Light-dark (LD) cyclicity contributes to a number of reproductive events in the rat, including estrus cyclicity, and the timing of parturition and postpartum estrus.

Decoding the Molecular Landscape of Prepubertal Oocyte Maturation: GTPBP4 as a Key Driver of In Vitro Developmental Competence

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
Transcriptional and translational characteristics during goat oocyte maturation and identification of key factors, including GTPBP4, for prepubertal goat oocyte maturation. ABSTRACT The intricate mechanisms driving oocyte maturation remain only partially understood, especially within the domains of domestic animal reproduction and translational ...
