Influence of bait and habitat on site visitation by wild pigs (Sus scrofa)

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Bait, a food item, is important for attracting wild pigs to a site for management and considering habitat, including distance to water and understory, increases likelihood of wild pig visitation. Abstract BACKGROUND Wild pigs (Sus scrofa), known for their impacts on ecosystems in both their native and invasive ranges, are commonly managed using lethal ...

Demographics and viability of an estuarine community of Indo‐Pacific bottlenose dolphins

open access: yesMarine Mammal Science, Volume 39, Issue 1, Page 59-76, January 2023., 2023
Abstract Wildlife management requires reliable demographic information to assess the status of a population and its vulnerability to threats. This study calculated age class‐ and sex‐specific demographic parameters and assessed the viability of a community of Indo‐Pacific bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops aduncus) resident to the Peel‐Harvey Estuary in ...

The post‐ovulatory rise in progesterone is lower and the persistence of oestrous behaviour longer during the first compared with the second cycle of the breeding season in mares

open access: yesReproduction in Domestic Animals, Volume 58, Issue 1, Page 141-145, January 2023., 2023
Abstract Mares are seasonally polyoestrous breeders. Therefore, the first ovulation of the season, following winter anoestrus, is the only cycle in which mares ovulate without the presence of an old CL from the previous cycle. The objective of this study was to compare the length of oestrous behaviour, and plasma progesterone concentrations during the ...
