Increase of astrocyte apposition on GnRH neurons in early puberty onset induced by high fat diet

open access: yesJournal of Neuroendocrinology, EarlyView.
This study suggests that the HFD‐induced anticipation of puberty seems to be, at least partially, mediated by an increase in the interaction between astrocytes and GnRH neurons in both the MPOA and ARC/EM, which may increase the excitability of GnRH neurons.

Dynamic changes in Ccn3 expression across the limbic forebrain through the mouse estrous cycle and during lactation

open access: yesJournal of Neuroendocrinology, EarlyView.
Abstract Cellular communication network factor 3 (CCN3), also known as nephroblastoma overexpressed (NOV), is an adipocytokine that has recently been suggested to be secreted selectively by hypothalamic arcuate nucleus kisspeptin (ARNKISS) neurons to protect bone density during lactation. Using RNAscope hybridization, we have examined the expression of

Loss of choroid plexus‐derived insulin‐like growth factor 2 (IGF2) leads to hyposmia, while retaining post‐partum mood resilience in mice

open access: yesJournal of Neuroendocrinology, EarlyView.
Abstract During the post‐partum period, new mothers are vulnerable to mood disorders. In adults, impairments in neurogenesis commonly associate with anxiety and depressive behaviors. Insulin‐like growth factor 2 (IGF2) is expressed in the choroid plexus (CP) within the subventricular zone (SVZ) neurogenic niche, and global loss of IGF2 leads to ...

Starch Allowance and Muscle Enzyme Activity in Healthy Standardbred Trotters Trained by Professional Trainers

open access: yesJournal of Animal Physiology and Animal Nutrition, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT It is generally accepted that plasma muscle enzyme activity of creatine kinase (CK) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) may increase in racehorses after exercise and racing, indicating muscle fibre damage and/or increased leakage from muscle fibres.

Ovarian Follicular Fluid Constituents in Relation to Stage of Estrus Cycle and Size of the Follicle in Buffalo [PDF]

open access: yesVeterinary World, 2010
The goal of the present study was to evaluate the difference in constituent of the ovarian follicular fluid in different stages of the estrus cycle and in medium and large sized follicle and also to evaluate the relation between serum and follicular ...

Sleep Deprivation Alters T Cell Dynamics: Melatonin as a Restorative Agent

open access: yesJournal of Sleep Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Sleep is an essential physiological function regulated by circadian rhythm and homeostatic regulation for emotional and physical health. Conversely, sleep deprivation (SD) is associated with weakened immune system function and overall health, which potentially leads to chronic diseases such as heart disease and diabetes.

Cyclic Ovarian Hormone Modulation of Supraspinal Δ\u3csup\u3e9\u3c/sup\u3e-tetrahydrocannabinol-induced Antinociception and Cannabinoid Receptor Binding in the Female Rat [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Estrous cycle-related fluctuations in delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)-induced antinociception have been observed in the rat. The aim of this study was to determine which major ovarian hormone modulates the antinociceptive effects of i.c.v.
