Triacsin C inhibition of the acyl‐CoA synthetase long chain (ACSL) family decreases multiple myeloma cell survival, proliferation, mitochondrial respiration, and membrane potential. Made with Biorender.com. Multiple myeloma (MM) is an incurable cancer of plasma cells with a 5‐year survival rate of 59%.

NAD+ regeneration by mitochondrial complex I NADH dehydrogenase is important for cancer cell proliferation. Specifically, NAD+ is necessary for the activities of NAD+‐dependent deacetylases SIRT3 and SIRT7, which suppress the expression of p21Cip1 cyclin‐dependent kinase inhibitor, an antiproliferative molecule, at the translational and transcriptional

Water/Ethanol and 13X Zeolite Pairs for Long-Term Thermal Energy Storage at Ambient Pressure
Thermal energy storage is a key technology to increase the global energy share of renewables—by matching energy availability and demand—and to improve the fuel economy of energy systems—by recovery and reutilization of waste heat.

Molecular Description of the Coil-to-Globule Transition of Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) in Water/Ethanol Mixture at Low Alcohol Concentration [PDF]
Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide), PNIPAM, is a widely studied polymer, which serves as a key constituent of nanostructured soft materials with responsive properties. Upon increasing temperature the PNIPAM polymer chain undergoes a reversible coil-to-globule transition at ~305K, which is reflected by a volume phase transition in cross-linked architectures ...

Nitrogen doped In$_2$O$_3$-ZnO nanocomposite thin film based sensitive and selective ethanol sensor [PDF]
Nanocomposite metal oxide thin films exhibit assuring qualities in the field of gas sensors because of the collective opportunities provided by the heterointerface formation. In this work, we present the synthesis of nitrogen doped mesoporous In$_2$O$_3$-ZnO nano-composite thin films by simple wet chemical method using urea as the nitrogen precursor ...

This study investigates an alternative approach to reactivating the oncosuppressor p53 in cancer. A short peptide targeting the association of the two p53 inhibitors, MDM2 and MDM4, induces an otherwise therapeutically active p53 with unique features that promote cell death and potentially reduce toxicity towards proliferating nontumor cells.

Efficacy and reliability of various grades of processed honey as a fixative: A comparative study
Introduction: Ethanol is a traditional cytofixative which is widely used for oral exfoliative cytology. Due to its limitations, a search of better, eco-friendly, and cost-effective fixative was explored.
