Dispersion of Clays in Ethanol Solutions

Soil Science Society of America Journal, 1975
Abstract Kaolinite was found to disperse at critical electrolyte concentrations in ethanol solutions greater than 80 vol/vol% of 10 ‐5 to 10 ‐3 M CaCl 2 and 10

Infrared spectroscopy of ethanol clusters in ethanol–hexane binary solutions

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2002
Temperature and concentration dependent infrared spectra were recorded for binary solutions of ethanol–hexane, ethanol–carbon tetrachloride, and ethanol–cyclopentane. The temperature range covered was 198 K to 298 K; concentrations ranged from 0.45 mole percent to 4.0 mole percent ethanol.

Stability of Ketoconazole in Ethanolic Solutions

Drug Development and Industrial Pharmacy, 1991
AbstractThe stability of the antifungal drug Ketoconazole (Kz) in an ethanolic solution was examined. The ethanolic solutions of Kz were placed in either clear or amber glass bottles and stored either at room temperature or at 8 C for 29 days. Kz was assayed using, a sensitive simple high pressure liquid chromatography procedure.

The Corrosion of Iron in Ethanolic Solutions

CORROSION 1987, 1987
Abstract The purpose of this research was to study the corrosion of iron in ethanolic solutions using electrochemical impedance techniques and to compare the results with those acquired by polarization resistance techniques. Both methods indicated that the presence of three minor components (chloride ion: 10 ppm, acetic acid: 100 ppm ...

Color Loss in Ethanolic Solutions of Chlorophyll a

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2010
The present study investigated the stability of green color in 1-60% ethanolic solutions of chlorophyll a. Kinetics studies were performed. The results show that the color loss follows first-order reaction kinetics, similar to that in aqueous systems, with a reaction rate constant between 0.013 and 13.575 day(-1) at 20 degrees C and an activation ...

Milk stability in ethanolic solutions

Journal of Dairy Research, 1989
SummaryWe have investigated the role of pH in the destabilization of milk and sodium caseinate solutions by ethanol. Ethanol shifted the pH of minimum stability of both caseinate and milk to higher values. A linear relation between this pH and the reciprocal dielectric constant of the mixture was observed.

Anomalous volume change of gramicidin a in ethanol solutions

Life Sciences, 1974
Results of studies aimed at clarifying the failure of gramicidin A (GA) to sediment in early experiments are analyzed. In the present work, no sedimentation was observed in pure pentanol or ethanol, while normal sedimentation was observed in ethanol-water mixtures. It is concluded that GA exists in two conformations that differ in volume. Since the

Solubility of Organic Solutes in Ethanol/Water Mixtures

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1994
The log-linear solubilization model was applied to the experimental solubility data of 109 organic compounds in ethanol/water mixtures. It is found that the extent of solubilization strongly depends on the solute hydrophobicity and the ethanol concentration in the solvent mixture.

Self-Defocusing Effects in an Ethanol Solution of Chlorophyll

Journal of Nonlinear Optical Physics & Materials, 1997
The thermally induced optical nonlinearity in a chlorophyll ethanol solution is examined. A theory is presented which shows good agreement with experiment. The theory models an optically thick but physically thin medium whose only heat transport mechanism is conduction.

Absorption difference spectroscopy of chlorophyll a in ethanol solution

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Bioenergetics, 1968
Abstract Absorption difference spectra between highly concentrated and dilute solutions of chlorophyll a have been measured in ethanol, maintaining the product of concentration and path length constant. A log-log plot of dimer versus monomer concentration, derived from the data, was linear with a slope of 2.0, which is consistent with the ...
