Enhanced Electroactivity for Overall Water Splitting and Oxygen Potential of Pt/Carbon Nanotubes Functionalized with Cu Organometallic Complex

open access: yesEnergy Technology, EarlyView.
Functionalizing carbon nanotubes (CNT) with the mesitylcopper (Cu‐mes) complex modifies the surface of CNT, developing Cu‐Pt alloys and Cu‐species. The result is a modified Pt electronic structure that promotes the catalytic activity of the 5 wt% Pt/CNTCu‐mes nanocatalyst for hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions, and oxygen reduction reaction.

Inhibition of Nonsense-Mediated mRNA Decay by Antisense Morpholino Oligonucleotides Restores Functional Expression of hERG Nonsense and Frameshift Mutations in Long-QT Syndrome

open access: yes, 2010
Mutations in the human ether-a-go-go-related gene (hERG) cause long-QT syndrome type 2 (LQT2). We previously described a homozygous LQT2 nonsense mutation Q1070X in which the mutant mRNA is degraded by nonsense-mediated mRNA decay (NMD) leading to a ...

Distinguishing Rock Fracture and Pore's T2 Signals From NMR Experiments With Assisted X‐Ray CT Imaging

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) is widely used to characterize fluids in rock pore spaces, but traditional methods have difficulty distinguishing fractures from matrix pores in complex carbonate formations. To address this, we developed a calibration method that integrates X‐ray computed tomography (CT) imaging with NMR to identify fracture ...

Assessment of the Effects of Fruquintinib on Cardiac Safety in Patients with Metastatic Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesThe Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Fruquintinib is a highly selective oral inhibitor of vascular endothelial growth factor receptors 1, 2, and 3, approved by the US Food and Drug Administration and the European Commission for the treatment of previously treated metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC), regardless of biomarker status. This study used concentration QT interval (C‐QTc)

Recent advances in our understanding of the structure and function of more unusual cation channels. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
As their name implies, cation channels allow the regulated flow of cations such as sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium across cellular and intracellular membranes.

Microfluidic Synthesis of Hyaluronic Acid Microgels in a Coaxial Flow Reactor

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
A coaxial flow reactor allows continuous production of hyaluronic microgels with efficient parameter optimisation through Design‐of‐Experiments. ABSTRACT Microgels combine the strengths of hydrogels and microparticles. The multiple advantages of microgels, including control of drug release, excellent loading efficiency, high stability, and ...

Origin and characterization of cyclodepsipeptides: Comprehensive structural approaches with focus on mass spectrometry analysis of alkali‐cationized molecular species

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
Abstract Cyclodepsipeptides (CDPs) represent a huge family of chemically and structurally diverse molecules with a wide ability for molecular interactions. CDPs are cyclic peptide‐related natural products made up of both proteinogenic and nonproteinogenic amino acids linked by amide and ester bonds.

Investigating the threat to Sitka spruce from Ips typographus: discrimination and colonization of Britain's principal commercial conifer by a damaging forest pest

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
The forest pest Ips typographus was found to demonstrate attraction to Sitka spruce, and to colonize and breed upon cut logs as successfully as its primary host Norway spruce. This has implications for the beetle's establishment and impact in Sitka‐growing regions, including Britain where I.

Regulation of Kv11.1 Potassium Channel C-Terminal Isoform Expression by the RNA-Binding Proteins HuR and HuD

open access: yes, 2018
The potassium voltage-gated channel subfamily H member 2 (KCNH2) gene encodes the Kv11.1 potassium channel, which conducts the rapidly activating delayed rectifier current in the heart.
