ChemicalUniverseMachine. I. Uncovering the Cosmic Evolution of Metals in the Galaxy–Interstellar Medium–Circumgalactic Medium Ecosystem

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We present an empirical chemical evolution model that explains the distribution of metals in the interstellar medium (ISM) and the circumgalactic medium (CGM) of galaxies based on the U niverse M achine and N eutral U niverse M achine models in the ...

Chemical evolution in hierarchical scenarios

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2012
We studied the chemical properties of Milky-Way mass galaxies. We found common global chemical patterns with particularities which reflect their different assembly histories in a hierarchical scenario.

Chemical defenses in Sacoglossan Opisthobranchs: Taxonomic trends and evolutionary implications

open access: yesScientia Marina, 2004
Sacoglossan sea slugs (Mollusca: Opisthobranchia) are one of the few groups of specialist herbivores in the marine environment. Sacoglossans feed suctorially on the cell sap of macroalgae, from which they "steal" chloroplasts (kleptoplasty) and deterrent

Chemical Evolution of Protostars [PDF]

open access: yesAstrophysics and Space Science, 2005
This review discusses the evolution of the chemical composition of the molecular gas throughout the process of star formation. It covers the initial stages of cloud-core formation, gravitational collapse and the formation of the star, the effects of stellar radiation and outflows on the surrounding cloud, and the composition of the circumstellar disk ...

P‐glycoprotein modulates the fluidity gradient of the plasma membrane of multidrug resistant CHO cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
To explore the impact of the overexpression of the multidrug‐transporter P‐glycoprotein (ABCB1) on membrane fluidity, we compared the transversal gradient of mobility and microviscosity in plasma membranes of drug‐sensitive Chinese hamster ovary cells (AuxB1) and their multidrug‐resistant derivatives (B30) using the fluorescent n‐(9‐anthroyloxy) fatty ...

Evolutionary interplay between viruses and R‐loops

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Viruses interact with specialized nucleic acid structures called R‐loops to influence host transcription, epigenetic states, latency, and immune evasion. This Perspective examines the roles of R‐loops in viral replication, integration, and silencing, and how viruses co‐opt or avoid these structures.

Disruption of SETD3‐mediated histidine‐73 methylation by the BWCFF‐associated β‐actin G74S mutation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The β‐actin G74S mutation causes altered interaction of actin with SETD3, reducing histidine‐73 methylation efficiency and forming two distinct actin variants. The variable ratio of these variants across cell types and developmental stages contributes to tissue‐specific phenotypical changes. This imbalance may impair actin dynamics and mechanosensitive

Laserocarpum, a new genus of Apiaceae endemic to Greece

open access: yesActa Societatis Botanicorum Poloniae, 2019
Laserpitium pseudomeum is an endemic umbellifer of Greece occurring in the mountains of Sterea Ellas and northern Peloponnese. Molecular data indicate that it is not related to its putative congeners, but instead constitutes an isolated lineage.

Purification tags markedly affect self‐aggregation of CPEB3

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Although recombinant proteins are used to study protein aggregation in vitro, uncleaved tags can interfere with accurate interpretation. Our findings demonstrate that His₆‐GFP and His₁₂ tags significantly affect liquid droplet and amyloid fibril formation in the intrinsically disordered region (IDR) of mouse cytoplasmic polyadenylation element‐binding ...
