Implementation, elimination of weakly dominated strategies and evolutionary dynamics [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper is concerned with the realism of mechanisms that implement social choice functions in the traditional sense. Will agents actually play the equilibrium assumed by the analysis? As an example, we study the convergence and stability properties of

Population genomics of intrapatient HIV-1 evolution

open access: yeseLife, 2015
Many microbial populations rapidly adapt to changing environments with multiple variants competing for survival. To quantify such complex evolutionary dynamics in vivo, time resolved and genome wide data including rare variants are essential.

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Public Opinion Formation in Policy Issues. An evolutionary approach. [PDF]

open access: yes
We seek to shed new light on the social process of political opinion formation from an evolutionary perspective. We propose a model in which heterogeneous citizens collectively learn and modify their opinions about the most convenient size of public ...

Random Boolean Networks and Evolutionary Game Theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Recent years have seen increased interest in the question of whether it is possible to provide an evolutionary game theoretic explanation for certain kinds of social norms. These explanatory approaches often rely on the fact that, in certain evolutionary

YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

Preprint: Evolutionary dynamics of neoantigens in growing tumours

open access: yes, 2019
Cancer evolution is driven by the acquisition of somatic mutations that provide cells with a beneficial phenotype in a changing microenvironment. However, mutations that give rise to neoantigens, novel cancer–specific peptides that elicit an immune ...

Dynamical trade-offs arise from antagonistic coevolution and decrease intraspecific diversity

open access: yesNature Communications, 2017
How a trait evolves depends on the shape of its fitness trade-off. Here, Huang et al. demonstrate evolution of trade-off shape in an experimental predator-prey system and develop a mathematical model of trait evolution when the underlying trade-off can ...
