Evolutionary relationship of Rickettsiae and mitochondria [PDF]
Phylogenetic data support an origin of mitochondria from the α‐proteobacterial order Rickettsiales. This high‐rank taxon comprises exceptionally obligate intracellular endosymbionts of eukaryotic cells, and includes family Rickettsiaceae and a group of microorganisms termed Rickettsia‐like endosymbionts (RLEs).

On the evolutionary relationships of Drosophila melanogaster
AbstractThe gene coding for alcohol dehydrogenase (Adh) in Drosophila melanogaster maps to 2:50.1 on chromosome arm 2L. It is expressed in both larvae and adults, coding for an abundant enzyme that plays a role in the detoxification of primary and secondary alcohols. In larvae the gene is most abundantly expressed in the fat body and gut.

Evolutionary relationships in superoxide dismutase
Two distinct types of superoxide dismutase have been isolated from aerobic organisms. A blue-green Cu-Zn protein with a mol. wt of 32 000 and comprising two identical subunits has been obtained from a wide range of eukaryotes (e.g. [3,4]) while a pinkish-purple Mncontaining enzyme, also composed of identical subunits, has been isolated from eukaryotic ...
