Evolution and diversification of Ca2+/H+ exchangers: insights into karst-plant adaption to high-calcium environment

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology
Background Calcium (Ca2+) is a critical mineral essential for plant growth, development, and signal transduction. The CAX (Ca²⁺/H⁺ exchanger) family represents a group of key transmembrane transporters that mediate Ca2+ transport and homeostasis, thereby

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Evolutionary pattern of Macaca fascicularis in Southeast Asia inferred using Y-chromosomal gene

open access: yesBMC Ecology and Evolution, 2021
Background We analyzed a combined segment (2032-bp) of the sex-determining region and the testis-specific protein of the Y-chromosome (Y-DNA) gene to clarify the gene flow and phylogenetic relationships of the long-tailed macaques (Macaca fascicularis ...

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Chromosome-level genome assembly of Malus niedzwetzkyana, the mother of Rosybloom crabapple

open access: yesScientific Data
Malus niedzwetzkyana (MN) is the mother of Rosybloom hybrids, ornamental crabapples with red and purple flowers. We present a high-quality chromosome-scale genome for MN with a size of 672.64 Mb, anchored to 17 chromosomes and with a high BUSCO ...

Comparison of Gut Microbial Ecology of Captive and Wild Water Deer for Understanding Mammalian Ecology and Conservation

open access: yesDiversity
The water deer, although an internationally endangered species, is designated as a nuisance wild animal in South Korea and occupies a unique ecological niche. Studying the gut microbiome of this species is crucial for understanding its ecology.

An EAGLE’s view of ex situ galaxy growth [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2020
ABSTRACT Modern observational and analytical techniques now enable the direct measurement of star formation histories and the inference of galaxy assembly histories. However, current theoretical predictions of assembly are not ideally suited for direct comparison with such observational data.

Astrocyte heterogeneity in brain metastases

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Astrocytes emerge as pivotal regulators of metastatic colonization, survival, immune remodeling, and therapy response associated with an increasing heterogeneity that requires spatially and longitudinally resolved approaches to uncover regulatory programs and guide context‐specific therapies.
