Zero energy bound states in tunneling conductance spectra at the interface of an s-wave superconductor and a topological insulator in NbN-$Bi_2Se_3$-Au thin film junctions

open access: yes, 2012
Measurements of conductance spectra in a superconductor - topological insulator - normal metal thin film junctions of NbN-$\rm Bi_2Se_3$-Au are reported. Junctions with ex-situ and in-situ prepared $\rm NbN-Bi_2Se_3$ interfaces were studied.

Genetic diversity and core subset selection in ex situ seed collections of the banana crop wild relative Musa balbisiana [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Crop wild relatives (CWRs) play a key role in crop breeding by providing beneficial trait characteristics for improvement of related crops. CWRs are more efficiently used in breeding if the plant material is genetically characterized, but the diversity ...

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Post-growth annealing of GaMnAs under As capping - an alternative way to increase Tc

open access: yes, 2004
We demonstrate that in situ post-growth annealing of GaMnAs layers under As capping is adequate for achieving high Curie temperatures (Tc) in a similar way as ex situ annealing in air or in N2 atmosphere practiced earlier.Comment: 13 pages, 4 ...

YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

Chromosome-level genome assembly of Malus niedzwetzkyana, the mother of Rosybloom crabapple

open access: yesScientific Data
Malus niedzwetzkyana (MN) is the mother of Rosybloom hybrids, ornamental crabapples with red and purple flowers. We present a high-quality chromosome-scale genome for MN with a size of 672.64 Mb, anchored to 17 chromosomes and with a high BUSCO ...

Comparison of Gut Microbial Ecology of Captive and Wild Water Deer for Understanding Mammalian Ecology and Conservation

open access: yesDiversity
The water deer, although an internationally endangered species, is designated as a nuisance wild animal in South Korea and occupies a unique ecological niche. Studying the gut microbiome of this species is crucial for understanding its ecology.

Geographical Relationships between Long-Tailed Goral (Naemorhedus caudatus) Populations Based on Gut Microbiome Analysis

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2021
The long-tailed goral (Naemorhedus caudatus) is an endangered species found in the mountains of eastern and northern Asia. Its populations have declined for various reasons, and this species has been designated as legally protected in South Korea ...

Green manuring for tropical organic cropping – A comparative analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Green manuring is an essential component of tropical organic farming. Field studies evaluated the use of three legumes as in situ or ex situ green manures, along with a nonlegume green manure and a control to ascertain their impacts on soil properties ...
