Reinvigorating Excited State Coherences in $V$ Level Systems with the use of Trap States [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
We investigate potential schemes to reinvigorate coherences between excited states in a $V$ level system under various excitation conditions. Coherent pulsed, cw and noisy pulsed excitation are considered and the existence of a trap state is shown to allow for the resurgence of excited state coherence in the two pulsed scenarios. With a short trap time

Time dependence of quantum oscillator excitation by electromagnetic pulses [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
The paper is devoted to the theoretical investigation of time dependences of quantum oscillator excitation by electromagnetic pulses for arbitrary values of field amplitude in the pulse. We consider the harmonic oscillator without relaxation and excitation between stationary states.

Nucleon excitations

open access: yesChinese Physics C, 2010
The mass pattern of nucleon and $ $ resonances is compared with predictions based on quark models, the Skyrme model, AdS/QCD, and the conjecture of chiral symmetry restoration.

Protonophore activity of short‐chain fatty acids induces their intracellular accumulation and acidification

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The protonated form of butyrate, as well as other short‐chain fatty acids (SCFAs), is membrane permeable. In acidic extracellular environments, this can lead to intracellular accumulation of SCFAs and cytosolic acidification. This phenomenon will be particularly relevant in acidic environments such as the large intestine or tumor microenvironments ...

Modifications in FLAP's second cytosolic loop influence 5‐LOX interaction, inhibitor binding, and leukotriene formation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The enzyme 5‐lipoxygenase (5‐LOX) catalyzes the first step in the biosynthesis of leukotrienes (LTs) involved in inflammatory pathophysiology. After cellular stimulation, 5‐LOX translocates to the nucleus, interacting with the 5‐LOX‐activating protein (FLAP) to form LTA4 from arachidonic acid (AA).

Development of transverse excitation MFL inline detector

open access: yesYou-qi chuyun, 2020
A transverse excitation magnetic flux leakage (MFL) inline detector, with a diameter of 711 mm, was developed in response to the difficulty in detecting axial metal loss defects of long-distance oil and gas pipelines.

Meson Excitation at Finite Chemical Potential [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We consider a probe stable meson in the holographic quark-gluon plasma at zero temperature and chemical potential. Due to the energy injection into the plasma, the temperature and chemical potential are increased to arbitrary finite values and the meson is also excited.

Unlocking the potential of tumor‐derived DNA in urine for cancer detection: methodological challenges and opportunities

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Urine is a rich source of biomarkers for cancer detection. Tumor‐derived material is released into the bloodstream and transported to the urine. Urine can easily be collected from individuals, allowing non‐invasive cancer detection. This review discusses the rationale behind urine‐based cancer detection and its potential for cancer diagnostics ...

Infantile Spasms in Pediatric Down Syndrome: Potential Mechanisms Driving Therapeutic Considerations

open access: yesChildren
Infantile spasms are common in Down Syndrome (DS), but the mechanisms by which DS predisposes to this devastating epilepsy syndrome are unclear.

Identification of functional and diverse circulating cancer‐associated fibroblasts in metastatic castration‐naïve prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) promote cancer growth, invasion (metastasis), and drug resistance. Here, we identified functional and diverse circulating CAFs (cCAFs) in patients with metastatic prostate cancer (mPCa). cCAFs were found in higher numbers and were functional and diverse in mPCa patients versus healthy individuals, suggesting their ...
